iPod playlists

Is there some way I can get my iPod to play a playlist in “Shuffle” mode? Everytime I switch it to shuffle it uses my entire library. I don’t want to hear the same first 10 songs from my playlists over and over. Please help!

Assuming all iPod menus are the same…

Go to the main iPod menu, choose settings, then turn shuffle on. Then go to the playlist you want, and select it.

It works for me. First, I select the playlist and begin playing a song on it. Then while it is playing I go to the main menu and turn shuffle on. Voila. The next song may or may not be the next on the list.

Don’t click “Shuffle Songs” from the menu. Go in to “Settings” and then you can set everything to shuffle. You can opt to shuffle every song in a playlist or just by album.

Here’s how it works on my thrid generation iPod:

Go to the “Shuffle” menu and set it to “Songs.” Then return to the main menu, open “Playlists,” open the playlist you want to hear, and play any song. That’s all there is to it.

feels dumb

Thanks guys, I’ll try going into Settings and changing it there. I don’t think mine has a Shuffle Menu, I guess mine is the old fashioned kind. But I’ll check, just in case.

Eureka!

<files mental note to go home and set up a playlist that contains all genres except holiday music, so there won’t be any more instances of Jingle Bells popping up in March>
