iPods and Windows 98

According to the iPod package I saw, it’s said to work with windows 2000 and xp. I have had many programs in the past that only said 2000/xp, but worked fine on 98. Does anyone know if it would work with 98?

I tried to install it on 98SE. When I clicked on the install .exe a window came up saying that the program was for 2000/XP only and wouldn’t install.

When I tried to install under a fresh but somewhat out-of-date install of 2000, it politely informed me I needed a service pack or two.

ephpod works with windows 98. Never tried it myself.

My ipod comes in a few days!

I’ve also heard of people having problems with Windows 98 and USB 2.0 cards, so transferring songs will take a lot longer. I briefly used a USB 1.1 connection for my iPod, and I would guess that it goes about 10-15 times slower. This means that your iPod’s hard drive will be spinning for that much longer, which is not a good thing in the long run.
