With all the saber rattling going on regarding Iran’s development of nuclear weapons could we be missing the bigger picture?
Iran has a very large young population who appear to be growing discontented with the Iranian revolution. Much like how oppressive Muslim governments are using Israel and now the cartoon controversy to stir up their citizens against the West (thus, ignoring their own corrupt regimes) could Iran be doing that same thing?
That is, by overstating where they stand on enriching and weaponizing uranium is the Iranian government attempting to provoke an attack from Israel? Are the crazy statements from their President all part of this effort? If Israel were to attack in an effort to shut down the program would that play into the hands of the hardliners as it would allow them to consolidate their power against the “Zionist threat”? In turn, this would allow them to crack down on dissidents while convincing the rest of the country that they need to be strong and united against Israel.
