Iranian Protest Song - Uses Pink Floyd

Wow, this video makes a strong statement. It literally brought tears to my eyes. Perhaps someday that regime will be replaced with one that is more tolerant.

It features Blurred Vision singing Pink Floyd’s The Wall. The band is fronted by two Iranians that fled the country in 1986. It’s a Toronto-based rock band.

They cleared their altered version with Roger Waters.

Here’s a version with only the music. Looks official with the bands web site.

I hope these kids don’t get targeted with a death proclamation (fatwā) like Salman Rushdie.

Heard this story on NPR. They have been very careful not releasing their full names, since they still have family in Iran, who would definitely be targeted.

Good for them. I hope they survive. They showed their faces.

I hope they considered the consequences very carefully. Those radical clerics aren’t screwing around. They uncovered another attempt to murder that Danish cartoonist the beginning of this year.

I applaud the bands decision to make the recording. Hopefully it’s not a serious enough inconvenience for the clerics to pay any notice. Iran has bigger problems to deal with.
