Pink Floyd reunites to record new music in support of Ukraine

I hope this leads to a full album inspired by the current war in Ukraine.

Seems surreal that its been 30 years since Pink Floyd recorded new material .

Just saw this on another site and came here to share the link. Good for them. Also a cool song!

The guitar solo is really good.

More background information. David Gilmore’s daughter-in-law and grandchildren are Ukrainian. Pink Floyd reunites to support Ukraine

That was pretty damn awesome! That guitar was classic Floyd while still bringing something new to the sound.

I’d go so far as to say it is my favorite guitar work from Gilmour outside of The Wall and Obscured by Clouds. The drumming is also distinctively Floydian if not as much of a standout as the guitar.

Maybe it depends on how old you are, but I wouldn’t use “reunites” when it’s only two of four members.

That was my first thought, too, but then I figured Fuck it–close enough.

Come to think of it, it’s actually a plus Waters isn’t there…

This could be a last chance for a new Pink Floyd album. They’re not getting any younger.

David Gilmore still plays incredible guitar. I miss Richard Wright’s keyboards and vocals. Damn cancer.

That was a very Floydian guitar and drums, and really the bass as well.

I miss Richard Wright too. I’ve been listening to his first solo album quite a bit lately.

Five, if we’re not forgetting Syd.

Yeah. I’d never considered Gilmour Floyd to be broken up, just dormant. It’s possible Guy Pratt has been playing bass for Pink Floyd for longer than Waters did.

We’ve all been used to clickbait by now, but I’ve got to say reading “Pink Floyd reunites” meant only one thing in my mind. It wasn’t that Gilmour has teamed up with some Ukranian rockers and called Mason if he’d want to do the drums.

And yes, by quick math, Pratt has been the bass player in dormant-Floyd far longer than Waters ever was in active-Floyd. But Waters wasn’t really a bass player, he was a songwriter / singer / frontman who happened to play some bass as well.

Changes in personnel can make defining any band difficult. I miss Pink Floyd’s classic lineup.

Gilmour, Mason and Pratt is the closest we can get since Wright died. Roger Waters doesn’t seem interested any more.

… and release their first new track for 28 years, Hey Hey Rise Up - not half bad, I have to say!

Yes, I fell for that clickbait yesterday afternoon. To use the words Pink Floyd and “reunite” means only one thing: Roger Waters and David Gilmour together.
I’m not shitting on the new work, but it’s no reunion.

Never gonna happen. When they had the story on the news last night, they showed a picture of Gilmour and Waters on stage, and I said, “Nope, that’s bullshit.”
