Iraqi ambush

In the most gruesome development, police said militants used this week’s downing of a U.S. helicopter to carve out a killing field north of Baghdad

From Yahoo

So what’s your point? ANY place that people get killed in during a war could be called a killing field. Matter of fact, when siting machine guns, you SPECIFICALLY set up fields of fire, i.e.; kill zones. So the Iraqi’s are doing pretty much what every combatant in any war would do.

So. Again. What’s your point?

On of my best friends just made it home from being in Iraq in the Army (US) for 1 1/2 years.

I am just glad he made it home. I got him drunk when he got back on leave one night and some of the stuff he told me made me want to cry… and most of my family was in Vietnam, so I have heard some grusome stuff…

And he wants to go back, because he met some Iraqis over there that cried and told him “Thank you, American. You should not be over here dying for our cause.”

My lifetime regret that is that me or my family never voted the other way.

I am sorry. Pit me. I deserve it. I won’t ever not voice my opinion again.

Exactly. Sounds like the insurgents have a few people who know tactics on their side. And your point is…?

…nonexistant?

Found it.

I have no problem with the insurgents attacking U.S. forces. (Well, I do, but that’s war.) This is, indeed, beyond the pale. One would wish the OP had been a bit more coherent.

So what’s your point? ANY place that people get killed in during a war could be called a killing field.

It’s pretty sad news.

You need to be defensive. Too bad

Thanks for finding that Frank. I take back part of what I said about you. Your right the OP COULD have had enough brains to point out that the insurgents were killing civilians but what are ya gonna do.

First off, you’re wrong. Not any place that people get killed would constitute a killing field as I described it. Now as for how you DIDN’T describe it, yes, that would be a killing field.

Second, I don’t see anywhere that I was defensive to begin with. Not only do I not know you, I don’t even recall seeing your user name before so why would I be defensive?

Unless of course, You’re once again saying something other than what you really mean.

Well, if there’s gonna be an OP in the Pit every time the insurgents kill some civilians, I think the hamsters are going to be under a bit of strain.

Exactly how is the murder of these people any different from the murders of hundreds of other people that have been going on every month for the last couple of years?

Hey asshole-I don’t give a shit what you call a killing field.

Ask Yahoo what my point was.

Stuff your war shit up your ass and keep it there.

Whats yours?

How does one ‘carve out’ a killing field anyway? The phrase made me think of pumpkins, but that can’t be right, can it? What was the journalist trying to tell us with that choice of words?

Oh grow a pair for crying out loud.

Simple: our guys “secure the area”, their guys “carve out a killing field”.

Well, since you never linked to anything at all, except to say, and I quote,

, just which part of Yahoo was I supposed to look at? When YOU start an op, it’s your responsibility to, I dunno, maybe put some fucking details in the damn thing rather than wait for someone else to do it for your lazy ass.

I didn’t bring up the war dickweed, YOU did.

My point is that you’re a feeble-minded idiot.

bannerrefugee, are you pitting the “creating of a killing field” or the killing of innocent civilians here? I just wondered because if it’s the second, you’ve managed to:

:frowning: Not include the thing you’re pitting in the OP.
:frowning: Not provide a cite for it.
:frowning: Argue somewhat incoherently about your pitting.

Of course, if it’s the first, then:

 You did include it. Well done.
:frowning: You’re wrong, though. Killing fields aren’t anything new and horrifying. (just old and).
:frowning: No cite.
:frowning: Argued somewhat incoherently about your pitting.

I don’t mean to be snarky - this is the pit, and I could have selected more interesting words to respond to you with. Just some constructive criticism.

Your OP. You’re the one who’s supposed to have had some point to make by starting a thread.

AFAICT, the closest thing to a point you’ve got is, “It’s one thing for the Sunni insurgents to kill other Iraqis in other situations, but for them to take advantage of the U.S.’ having closed the road where the helicopter came down to do more of the same, that’s just plain wrong.”

Which makes no sense whatsoever. Which is why people are scratching their heads and asking for clarification. And your response is to tell people to shove it up their ass.

Other posters’ MMV, but that posting style doesn’t exactly encourage me to keep reading your posts.

Ditto, ditto, ditto and ditto

I concur with RTFirefly as well.

If I had to shove this OP up my ass, there would be NOTHING for my anal ring of muscles to open up to.

7 helocpoters in two weeks.

It is a slaughter. It’s not just our guys. We kill the Iraqi’s even faster. It is too much death.
