Iraqi Group Threatens to Kill Zarqawi - about damned time

Iraqi Group Threatens to Kill Zarqawi

It’s about damned time the Iraqi ppl started standing up to this thug.

IMHO, this is a huge step in the right direction.

It will be interesting to see which news outlets run this story and which do not.

That guy on the right? With the fake looking RPG and the ill fitting hood? I could swear that is Carl Rove. You see that watch? And that guy on the left with the AK? Do you see how his hood kinda pokes out around the ears? I’m not saying…I’m just saying…

Well I did a quick look at 11:30 CDST and the story was being carried by the following:
USA Today
MSNBC
ABC

No sign of it on the following:
CNN (I’m shocked)
CBS
NY Times (shocked again)

Damn! I’m still kicking myself for not getting in on the “ground floor” of the Baghdad Hood Concession! :smack:

Overheard in the public restroom: “That’ll leave a skidmark all the way to the treatment plant!”

I wonder what this group’s reaction is going to be when they find out that Al Zarqawi has been in US custody for a year or so?

Apparently they have never heard of certain US groups penchants for “October Surprises” (although this year it will be no later than August).

You know you’re a scumbag when you start pissing off other militants.

Wow, looks like Zarqawi’s polling numbers are down! Those militants are so fickle, and so pesky! Sounds like Zarqawi needs to find himself a Marsh Arab running-mate for the January elections; someone who brings a vibrant, Southern character to the ticket, someone who can carry Basra and the other Southern provinces.

This likely is a case of “be careful what you wish for”. It sounds to me like the opening rounds of the Iraqi civil war. Lebanon’s civil war took 15 years to sort out – maybe this one will be over faster.

CNN is running the story now: http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/07/06/iraq.main/index.html

I agree that I won’t shed a tear when and if the dude gets blowed up, but I share whitetho’s reservations.

I have never seen a shred of evidence that Zarqawi even exists. Can someone show me some?

Umm, what? You’re not serious are you?

Yes! It’s about time we turned Iraq over to vigilante justice!

Let the Iraq/French Revolution begin!

You’re not wearning a burka, off with your head!

You’re wearing a burka, off with your head!

Rule of law is soooooo 20th century.
(I’m going back to bed.)

While it would be better if this demand was coming from Iraqi security forces and/or newly in place government (although they are starting to get involved in taking actions againt terrorism), I still see it as a positive sign that Iraqi citizens are trying to stand up for themselves. As for the hoods and secret identities, due to the current security situation I don’t blame them not making themselves an open target.

Yes I’m serious and don’t tell me because the government says so.

Just checking. See, I had been drinking last night. When I read your post, it seemed like the most idiotic thing I have seen you post. Wasn’t sure if it was the alcohol or not. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Ah…so you have no proof. Not even a link to some site outside of Government control that proves his existence.

How about this?

Ten bucks says that’s not good enough.

While we’re proving Zarqawi’s existence, I don’t recall ever seeing a shred of evidence proving that Reeder exists. Maybe he’s just here to build landing strips for gay Martians, and his Bush-bashing online persona is his cover.
