I’d know that impenetrable accent anywhere
Irra jaysus ruadh, I’ve no accent at all ye feckin gobshite!
Well, we’ve set out our itinerary (sp?), more or less. We finally got a map that had a lot of marked points for ancient sites, castles, ruins, views, bird sanctuaries, inter alia, and used that to map out a trip. I have drive time concerns; they don’t and are more experienced travellers than I. Unfortunately, I don’t have the map w/ me right now…
So, two nights in Dublin. Then the next night will be in Rathdrum, with a visit to Glendalough. IIRC, there is an ancient site, a megalithic site, a tower, and something else (I forgot) all in that general area.
Darn, I thought I’d remember and/or figure it out from online maps. Oh-well.
Anyway, I’m thinking that anyone who can meet, the 27th would be great—jet lag notwithstanding. My thinking is that it would be a better first day that way. The 28th is good, too. We’ll be tourists for the day time, but in need of some beer & food in the evening.
Anybody talk to jjim? Terrible timing for the boards to become subscription!!
I’m suprised at all the Irish place names around here. I live in Antrim county. We also have Wexford, Clare, Waterford, Emmet, and Roscommon counties. It seems like there are a lot of town names that I’ve seen on the map of Ireland as well. I guess the Irish had a pretty significant seminal influence in Michigan (?).
Okay, just keeping up to date.
I’m a RL friend of jjimm so will let him know about it.
We hang out at NADS BTW he’s the boss man there.
Looking forward to talking meeting up.
Thanks, yojimbo! jjim emailed me and we’re going to get together. He also gave us some heads-ups about what is worth seeing in our limited time in Dublin.
If one wanted to come home from Ireland with a bottle of one of Ireland’s best wiskey—that a working guy could afford—what would one look for? Also, will I get beat up for being a terminally cliche tourist if I try and buy a bata?
What’s a bata?
As for whiskey I’m not the biggest spirits drinker in the world but Bushmills is very good.

I’ll talk to Jim about what arragements you made and let some others know.
Talk to ya soon.
We haven’t nailed down anything definite yet—good reminder to email him again! sheepishly slinks off
I think it’s the word more-Irish-than-thou Americans use to call the shillelagh. Ever since I heard that there is a definate art to it, rather than just swing like a mother and hope for the best, I’ve been fascinated about learning how to do it. (Not much instruction available 'round here, though.)
