Except that the SDMB has a tradition that approaches rule status that prevents Pitting banned posters.
I see. So we’re just negotiating the price.
Only because we KNOW you would tear them UP!
Go ITD!
Modfights could be the next Bumfights. Or would it be redundant?
You want disdain? On Facebook Asimovian is pulling for the Indians and I was born on the north side of Chicago. It’s a Off-Duty mod slap fight.
Some mods have sense and good taste; other mods are Jonathan Chance.
That’s IT!
Pistols and coffee at dawn, sir!
And we’re going back to Cleveland!
Hey, Chicago, Whaddaya say? Go Cubs Go!
Is this in the right thread?
A Cubs-Indians World Series is sort of like a war between Paraguay and Uruguay.
My guay is the BEST guay!
Yes and no. It has a high chuckle factor but could also turn out to be like when managers fight at work ----- the peasants lose.
Just be sure to specify the country/monetary system. I always keep a few hundred trillion dollars on me for situations like that. Zimbabwe ------ but they are dollars.
Since its not the OP we don’t have to report it for a forum change.
Is this an actual rule? Because certain moderators do this a lot.
Much like I would never lord my moderating over you in Elections, the Indians did not wish to lord their World Series victory over the Cubs in Chicago. Thus, we return to Cleveland for (what I hope with all my heart will be) a tasteful celebration at home.
I didn’t know you were into guays. Not that there’s anything wrong with that or anything. :dubious:
Also, how did IvoryTowerDenizen get the One Ring away from Cecil?
Also, ITD, is it true that Orthanc is actually made of ivory?
I’ll put 20$ on Uruguay…I once dated a Canadian gal from Uruguay, damn she was tenacious.
Cites?
So part of the problem is that there’s no uniform policy for how moderators should make explicit that they’re moderating - hence it’s understandable why someone would find it jarring to get called out by one. Posters pay attention to the poster name and the “Moderator” subheading; not necessarily to individualized tags or throat clears or Mod Hats or whatever else may be used.
I think it’s very reasonable that Mods be allowed to act as “normal citizens” in the Pit, but it would also be reasonable to at least update the Pit rules to reflect that a moderator in the Pit isn’t necessarily modding, and has the same right as anyone else to wade in.
On further reflection, what I’m thinking of is not the type of personal insults that would be banned outside the Pit anyway. What I’m thinking of is a moderator who holds to one position in a discussion/debate denigrating the opposing position under the cover of his moderating.
Sorry for the confusion (and as such, it’s possible that my observation does not relate to what Miller was saying).
