Is a sexual fetish for glasses just a less extreme version of an amputee fetish

IMHO both are signs of a physical disability. A serious thing for girls in glasses is of course not as extreme.

I would say no. Glasses may have a practical purpose but they are also a fashion accessory. They don’t even need to be used for vision problems. There are sunglasses as well and people commonly wear those just to look good. Adding a fashion accessory is quite different than removing a body part IMO.

It may be different if the person in question only has a fetish for girls (or guys) with huge coke bottle glasses used to correct serious vision problems but that is hardly ever the case.

No, it’s not the same at all. Glasses are about the look, not the lack of vision.

No. SATSQ.

A better analogy to an “amputee fetish” would be preferring partners with really short hair, closely clipped finger/toenails etc. :dubious:

Huh?

“Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions”

Though I think “No” just counts as short, not “snappy” in the Mad Magazine style.

Well, I wouldn’t say it’s entirely about the look. To me, glasses convey a sense that the wearer is curious about the world, wants to see and enjoy it in all its detail. But it’s not like an amputee fetish, either (although I’ll admit I don’t understand the basis for that one at all).

Having a fetish for a blind person is closer to an amputation fetish in that it’s about the disability and/or state of the body. A glasses fetish would be more like a fetish for leg or arm braces.

I’ll agree that having a fetish for an amputee is about being attracted to someone with a disability, or at least being attracted to someone who you can help (or who needs your help). But being attracted to someone with glasses…I think a lot of people just think girls with glasses are hot, it has nothing with a disability. As was said upthread, it’s a fashion accessory. It’s not that much different than a pony tail or scarf or even perfume.
Yes, I know it’s not actually a fashion accessory, but it can certainly be treated that way and I know when I buy glasses I pick ones that I think look nice.

I think glasses make a woman look smart. Yeah, it’s a non-sequitor, but I think it works for many people. It certainly works for me, possibly because it’s a standard movie trope, which is how I approach much of life. And I love smart women, so I find women in glasses to be very sexy.

Maybe its in hopes she has impaired size perception

This the point I was going to make. I think glasses are seen as a symbol of intelligence just as often as they’re seen as a symbol of disability. So a person with a glasses fetish might be seeking intelligent partners.

No. A glasses fetish is about adding something in the way of fashion, like, say, high heels or fishnet stockings. Amputee fetish is about taking away.

Glasses, high heels and fishnet stockings?

I’ll be in my bunk.

A sexual fetish is something that turns you on separate from the person, and that is not intrinsically sexual. So, like, dildos aren’t a fetish because they’re inherently sexual. And being attracted to women in glasses because they make them look smart is not a fetishistic attractionh.

However, getting off on glasses/vision impairment is a sexual fetish, and classed under the same term as an amputee fetish, a braces fetish, etc., as a disability fetish or abasiophilia.

Look up abasiophilia.

There is a porn category of girls in glasses, because it makes them look like they are not sexually experienced enough to have paid attention to their attractiveness quotient and made the fashionable switch to contacts. So they appeal to the clientele who wants to fantasize about someone sexually inexperienced or not seeking to attract sexual attention to themselves.

Yes, in the same way that sexual attraction to living women is a less extreme version of necrophilia.
