Hopefully, that is changing.
Unfortunately, I knew a few who were perfectly fine with that. One Marine embassy guard stands out in particular. Dead-eyed fucker, he was, and the way he talked about women made everyone uncomfortable.
I hope he doesn’t run for president.
the only time I was anywhere near something like that is I won 2 weeks at a swanky up class gym that had a steam room and 2 of the movers and shakers in town were in there when I was discussing the merits of the out of town escort service they used and the pros and cons of specific girls that worked there and the language and terms they used shocked me because it came from the towns upstanding citizens …
One even gave me a card with the number on it and said to use him as a referral …
Everybody is a man on the internet…
A few times, a new guy has joined my guild and started shooting the crap, and the guys have started shooting back, and then the new guy has come up with something that produced the kind of silence that those above his age interpret as “people digesting what just got said”.
One such time, another guy finally said “dude, there’s chicks here” and another one replied “fuck that, there’s guys here! I’m not a chick and I’m way offended!”
There’s shooting the crap about chicks and sex and there’s “I’m not a chick and I’m way offended!” crap.
I posted this in a previous thread, but we kicked a guy out of our group of friends in part because he used to brag about grabbing women’s butts in bars. Had he gone on to suggest grabbing by their pussies, then the reaction would have been much stronger.
People just don’t say that.
Missed the edit window.
I take that back. Wang-Ka’s post reminds me of an incident in high school. I wasn’t there but heard about it from one of the participants. One of the guys had a girlfriend and get got drunk at a party. The guys apparently took turns fingering her.
I was a good Mormon kid at the time , which is why I wasn’t invited to the party to begin with.
At that time in the late 70s, as Mormon kids,we didn’t have concepts of sex as anything but a sin. I had absolutely no reference to place it, so I didn’t put it in sexual assault. I was just more shocked that something like that could happen.
So, yes. I can happen that guys will talk about it, but that seems to be much more of a high school thing. Maybe a frat thing as well, I don’t really know their culture.
I am quite sure that the number of people who have felt up girls especially when they or the girl or both were drunk is much, much higher than the number talked about. Both because inappropriate behavior is still far too common but also the guys’ talk tends to be concerned with how great the conquest is and there’s no honor in having sex with a passed out girl, for example.
The talk doesn’t necessarily involved overt grandiosity, either. Recently a friend and I were talking about our experiences when we were younger and we talked about periods in our lives where we were quite promiscuous without once overtly bragging or become explicit. Certainly neither of us bragged about committing sexual assault.
As I get older and further away from that behavior, the less frequent such conversations occur and the abstract they are. I just can’t see married guys in their 50s, 60s and 70s talking like Trump.
Here is a short clip of the T-Birds reacting appropriately to the locker room-talk lines in “Summer Lovin’” from Grease (“Did she put up a fight?”). Each time, the other T-Birds tell the guy, “Not cool!”
Kinda fun.
I don’t think the rapist is actually going to brag - “yeah, she wanted nothing to do me, but I hit her with a brick and had my way with her anyway.” It’s going to be something more along the lines of "man, she was such a tease, pushing me away, but once we got going she was really into it " or “everyone wants me because I’m rich so I don’t even need to bother with asking, I just walk up to the hottest girl in the room and start making out with her and feeling her up and they never slap me that hard because they all want me.”
Or to quote, IIRC, Bud Bundy " Her lips were saying no no no but her fists were saying yes, yes yes".
I was very annoyed at the reaction to Trumps “debunking” of the accuser that claimed he assaulted her on a plane. The guy had no credibility, sure … but imagine that he had been a credible witness.
A woman claims Trump tried to feel her up without her consent.
Trump denies the allegation and says he can prove it.
He provides as proof a witness that said the woman was flirting with him.
Trump thinks that somehow equaled consent
I wish more focus had gone to that aspect of the story.
They do brag. More along the lines of your middle guess if they’re in the company of normal guys, but that is a brag. And some do brag along the lines of the first, when they’re with guys who respond positively to that shit like Billy Bush did.
There was a case in this year’s Sanfermines, a woman who got gangraped by 5 guys. Among the proofs of the case: 4 of the guys were part of a Whatsapp group with several other friends, and they bragged about “five of us fucking one woman!” They didn’t say it was non-consensual, and their friends thought it was consensual. Once their friends heard the news and saw that those 4 weren’t responding, one pointed out “a woman with five guys, that’s not normal”. The friends weren’t saying “no way, they’re nice guys”; they were saying “oh fuck, it is them”. In SMS Andalusian Spanish, here. SFW stills from the video they took in the link.
