Decision ,not guilty of murder. Turn off your TV set.
You just knew she was guilty didn’t you?
Maximum of four years for the four guilty counts. Given time already served, and possibly time off for ‘good behaviour’, theoretically she could actually walk out of court today. However, she did have some outstanding charges related to previous theft/fraud charges (which of course the jury didn’t hear about).
I take back what I said: Clearly the US judicial system is run by retards too stupid to know how to get out of jury duty…
How much more would you have needed for reasonable doubt?
They have the chance to physically examine all of the evidence, but other than that you’re right.
“I can make up an alternative scenario” does not equal “there is reasonable doubt.” Unfortunately, a lot of people think it does, which leads to outcomes like this.

But you didn’t quote me saying we got enough to equal reasonable doubt; I’m asking how much more would equal “there is reasonable doubt”.
My grandboss just called everyone to come into her office to watch the verdict live on her computer.
I declined, with a heavy implication of “who?” in my voice. The name was only vaguely familiar to me from seeing it on thread titles here - otherwise, I’d never even have heard of her.
Any?
For starters, reasonable actions by the mother consistent with the accidental death of her daughter, and reasonable explanation for duct tape on the skull.
So – what storyteller0910 was just saying about “I can make up an alternative scenario”, then?
Sure. Any reasonable alternative scenario is grounds for reasonable doubt.
Saying that a pink unicorn killed Caylee is also an alternative scenario. It’s about as reasonable as the actual scenario proposed by the defense. That said, I liked Baez’ remarks just now in the press conference.
The point is the drowning stuff, Roy Kronk, molestations, etc were all red herrings. The defense was all about poking holes into the prosecution’s case, and they did that effectively. The prosecution was unable to provide enough conclusive evidence - was it chloroform, or duct tape? It’s still unclear. I’m sure she killed the kid, but not sure if it was intentional or just negligence. I very well might’ve been able to vote her guilty on all counts, but it would’ve been difficult.
What’s the over/under on # of months before George and Cindy Anthony divorce?
I have to admit, from a pure morbid, entertainment point of view it’s kind of exciting to see her get off just because you know it’s going to be interesting seeing what happens to the family afterwards. Reality show? Playboy spread?
Seriously though, it’ll be interesting to hear Lee and George’s view on things. I’m sure they all think Casey is guilty after seeing how her defense skewered them.
There is definitely a porno movie in Casey’s future. Her story won’t end well, which certainly seems fair.
Now now, why are they competing? Different centuries and all…
Oh yeah. Free in a country full of armchair jurors who’ve decided that she’s guilty as hell. That’s fucking funny.
I’ll flat out admit that I know diddly shit about this case. Never watched a damn minute of the coverage except for the two seconds of channel surfing it took to learn that Nancy Grace was convinced that she should fry, which on a personal and stupid level is enough info to convince me that she is innocent and should likely be canonized as a saint. That said, I think they should’ve put her to death. Would’ve been a mercy. She won’t have a free moment for the rest of her life. Guilty or not, there’s a lot of people that have decided her fate already.
Eh. She’s still going to spend the next few years in jail for the charges she was convicted of. I imagine most of us will have forgotten her by the time she gets out, and she can change her name, dye her hair and probably manage to live more or less anonymously if she tries. Though guilty or innocent of killing her kid, she obviously has some mental issues that are probably more of a barrier to living a normal life then her current infamy.
It does happen sometimes. it also happens the other way around too, that the jurors feel if they’d have known something else they would have acquitted, too.
When you do not have a conclusive cause of death, it is exceedingly hard to prove a murder.
