I’m really curious about how CTers are interpreting the Superbowl, and the 1st quarter lack of Secret Agents Taylor and Kelce visibility. Is anyone watching CT sites during the game?
Well, obviously, she’s going to wait until halftime to parachute onto the field.
Waiting for the occult ritual at halftime.
I saw a cutaway to her. Maybe it was the second quarter. I wasn’t paying attention to the time. I’m watching the commercials, which are probably the worst of all time. Why isn’t there outrage about that? Is anyone monitoring for commercial outrage? That’s the real scandal.
There have been some cute moments, but nothing like the commercials during the dot.com bubble. I blame Elon, because, well, why not?
The Nickelodeon broadcast likes to cover Taylor. One of the announcers likes to refer to “Taylor’s boyfriend”, and they showed her when she arrived (explaining how far she had to travel) and showed her hugging someone when her guy did something cool, I think.
(I’m delayed because I just learned about the SpongeBob version of the game, so I started watching it late. I thought it might spice up the game a bit. Plus I was frustrated with Paramount+ for showing Trump coverage when the game was supposed to be starting. It wasn’t even new news–they were just justifying their coverage of Trump earlier. It was bizarre.)
(Dora just came in and said that they need a map to find the end zone. And now they’re playing celebrity watch, both with real ones and fish parodies. So they are much more into the stuff surrounding the game–even though they love to add cartoon graphics to the clips.)
I heard some very uninspired “singing” and it turns out to be the Usher halftime show. Never heard of him. Can’t imagine why he is a headliner.
CBS has been very conservative with showing Taylor. Travis Kelce has been on the screen more being angry.
Nine #1 singles in the U.S., six platinum albums, eight Grammy awards.
Of course, all of that happened from 1994 onwards, so many of us old farts haven’t ever heard any of his music.
Kelce has only one reception, for one yard, so there haven’t been many opportunities to show her reacting specifically to his plays.
Yeah, he had that one good song. Yeah.
It warms my heart and fills me with national pride to know that if they tried to put on that show at a football (soccer) game in the UK, the artists would be booed off the field. As is tradition.
I loved the warning before the halftime show.
It was rated U
for “Uninspired?” This one of the more mundane games I’ve watched.
The halftime show was , meh!
Please tell me “that one good song” wasn’t that horrid noise he ushered into the microphone duirng the halftime show. Plus, whoever his “singing” partner was didn’t seem to be much better, not to mention her horrid outfit.
I’m watching the game on Armed Forces Network overseas, so I don’t get to see any commercials. I can well imagine, though, Whacked Out Nutjob Conspiracy Theorists have already gone to town with their nonsense over every commercial, and likely every camera pan during the game.
My husband said, “No chance of a wardrobe malfunction tonight!”
Never mind.
According to The Athletic’s minute by minute coverage:
Alicia Keys was the first guest appearance. From there, fans were treated to Jermaine Dupri, H.E.R. (and a sick guitar riff), will.i.am, Lil Jon and Ludacris.
They also complained about the sound in the stadium. Sure sounded bad through my tv speakers.
No, I did not recognize a single song or a single performer. But that’s on me.
Another Taylor showing because she was a bit animated after a catch just after the 2 minute waning for the second quarter. And then before the end of the quarter, they created a Taylor cam in the corner of the screen! They seem to have someone whose job it is to watch Taylor and show when she’s excited. They really think the Nick audience is more into her.
I guess they assume the CTers aren’t watching with their kids.
