Is anyone taking Otezla??

Just got the RX for my creepy head problem

No, but do you mind sharing more details about what it’s being prescribed for? (I also have a creepy head problem, but possibly not the same one. Feel free to say “not even similar”. I have a permanent migraine, plus assorted physical and neurological bonus problems: tingling, nausea, aphasia, tinnitus, numbness, vision issues, vertigo, etc.)

Sorry, I got interrupted. I had posted about my “super” dandruff which has finally been Dx as psoriasis, so am asking about this super spendy new drug they want me on.

I’ve been taking Otezla for about four years for severe psoriasis, mostly on my legs and arms. It was prescribed by a dermatologist. He selected it over other psoriasis treatments because it supposedly does not affect the immune system. I have not had any side effects.

It has not been a miracle drug, but has provided maybe 50% relief. My doctor got me into the Otezla Patient Assistance Program, and I have never had to pay for the drug. If I had to pay for it, I would not be taking it; the price quoted to me was over $1,000 per month. I was surprised that I qualified for it and suspect the next time I have to be recertified, I will not meet the qualifications.

Ask your prescribing doctor about possible payment assistance or call Otezla.

Are you kidding? And risk ‘Suicidal Thoughts or Actions’, ‘Night Terrors’, ‘Random Tourette’s Syndrome’, ‘Sweaty Palms’, ‘Bowel Leakage’, ‘Inability to Hold Interest in Award Winning Cinema’, ‘Worsening Dementia’, ‘constipation and diarrhea’ (how does that even work? )?

Nah. Don’t need it.

Your post is ignorant & I will report it as as thread-shitting
Until you’ve had thick plaques, flaking skin & an itch that doesn’t quit even when you scratch until you bleed, STFU.

Moderator Note

While there is a valid point to be made about the side effects of this drug, the way this is written, it does come off as a thread-shit. The OP is asking for personal experiences with this medication since they have been given a prescription for it. It’s not clear if you were given the option of using this medication and chose not to based on its side effects or if you are just snarking on the side effects in general. If it is the former, try responding with a bit less snark the next time.

Since this is seeking personal experiences and since it involves a real-world medical issue, IMHO is a better choice.

Moving thread from MPSIMS to IMHO.

I used it for about 2 years, worked great for awhile then effects tapered off. Only side effect for me was occasional nausea; not consistently if taken on an empty stomach, but avoiding an empty stomach seemed to fix it.

Regarding the earlier question, someone may get constipation, someone else may get diarrhea, sometimes it’s correlation, sometimes it’s causation.
ETA I got a 0 copay deal, as well, would not have been worth it, otherwise.
