You think?
Yes
Pretty strong language.
It may be a consequence of the trip but it doesnt mean that it was intentional. Fuccboi.
Never said the father intentionally harmed his daughter. Assclown.
The Pit is such a strange forum to virtue signal in.
Washington Times isn’t a reputable source.
“No thoughts and prayers for you!”
Or – and hear me out cause this might sound crazy – instead of staging them “all along the US border,” what if we consolidate them in population centers near the border, cities like San Diego, El Paso, and Tuscon. We can put these trained medical personnel in facilities, say, “immigration processing centers” along with a sufficient cadre of bureaucrats, law enforcement officers, background investigators, and immigration lawyers. We can then get the word out that if people want to immigrate to the US they can do so legally at designated “border crossings,” from which they’ll be safely taken to one of these “immigration processing centers” where they’ll be treated well and given medical care if necessary.
We’ll further say that if they agree to submit to a thorough background check, get a job, pay taxes, send their kids to school, and otherwise do things that we expect of average American citizens, that we’ll let them stay and work here – all of them, not just an arbitrary quota or those who satisfy some special interest – and if they keep their noses clean, we’ll tell them that they can apply for citizenship in a few years.
I’m 100% certain this would cost taxpayers a fraction of what we’re currently paying to keep up an inhumane police state along the southern border, and would save hundreds of lives per year.
But it’s not a serious question, because there is not an unlimited number of migrants. Serious questions deal with the real world.
Yes it is strong language. Well spotted snowflake. Why don’t you answer the question?
Does the child deserve empathy you fucking psycho?
QFT
(Side note, not to hijack, but this exact argument also applies to abortion in cases of rape - i.e. killing an unborn child due to the crimes of his/her father)
Aww. You’re actually serious? That’s sweet.
Maybe the reason you don’t hear much about the awesome “financial support” the migrants are getting is because it’s total abject nonsense. Why is the simple and obvious explanation such a difficult concept for you to grasp – that refugees are trying to escape dangerous, economically poor, politically corrupt crime-infested countries and seeking out a better life for themselves and their families? Why does this obvious motivation have to be replaced by a crazy conspiracy theory? Do you have a credible cite for this wild claim?
That’s false, too. The US is the most obvious and most proximate destination but Trumpism has been driving many immigrants from places like Haiti, El Salvador, and Nigeria who are already in the US to seek asylum in Canada – asylum claims alone from these illegal entrants displaced from the US totalled 12,378 in just the first 7 1/2 months of this year.
Yeah it’s a finite planet with finite people. You got me.![]()
Regardless, if borders were open and barriers to travel were removed there’d be vast migrations compared to today. How’d you propose countries handle that?
And you really think that will stop people from choosing to skip all that hassle and try to sneak over? Which is what these 163 were doing? Would you be fine with–under that new policy–saying “for those of you that do choose to avoid the official routes and try to sneak over, we will give you exactly zero assistance in any form whatsoever?” If not, then there is still a need to pour money and manpower into mollycoddling criminals.
That doesn’t really follow, if your point is that the illegal entrants into the US really wanted to go to Canada in the first place.
Regards,
Shodan
Yes, I really think that.
There is a 0% chance that these folks would have been allowed to stay in this country if they’d tried to enter via legal channels, so I reject your notion that they were just trying to “skip the hassle.”
No, I mean the hassle of your proposed process–let in as many tens of millions as want to come as long as they meet specific preconditions before eventually being granted citizenship.
