Is excessive sun or age that makes a woman's face leathery like this?

So, what’s wrong with growing old? What’s wrong with looking your age? I have no problem getting wwrinkles and gray hair: it’s me, it’s who I am.

Why do people have this obsession that “younger is better?”

There’s class and dignity associated with aging; don’t let the media tell you otherwise.

I have the opposite opinion. I think that as medical techinques improve, all surgery, plastic surgery included, will get less expensive and recovery will be easier. As a result, it will get more common. As a case in point, it used to be that getting your teeth whitened took a couple of trips to the dentist and cost several hundred dollars. Now you can buy a do it at home kit for ten bucks.

The standard of what is beautiful may change and we may see lip reduction surgeries rather than lip enhancement injections, but the practice will remain.

Remember, this isn’t anything new. Didn’t rich Victorean women have ribs removed for the ultra thin waist look? What about Chinese foot binding from centruries past?

Nope.

God damn it. I meant to check that before I wrote it and I forgot. My apologies.

I think we can’t overlook that drinking and smoking has contributed its share of damage to Donatella’s skin. I have a beloved relative who smoked almost a pack a day for about 30 years and her skin looks ten to fifteen years older than her real age. I used to fake bake in the winter to keep the blues down, but it’s not worth the chances of melanoma. The fact that my skin doesn’t reflect my real age is a credit to staying inside and reading when all the cool people were outside playing and being sociable.
I used to have a neighbor in her 50’s who tanned spring through fall like another poster, and we called her Coach - as in a Coach bag…

Heh. Heh heh. Heh heh heh!

Let’s not forget the character Magda from There’s Something About Mary. That was some hideous leather makeup.

Note that the actress who played Magda looks rather normal and pretty good for 50+:
