Speaking of cats, I regret to inform you all that I’ve discovered why our beloved (well, at least beliked) Giraffe has been absent, and it ain’t pretty. Seems he’d been inveigled into working for a cat toy company, little realizing their nefarious plans for him.
After a barrage of complaints and threats (“I can lick any man in the house!”) he was promoted to a new position, which has its plusses and minuses – no more emergency room visits but constant headaches.
He’s never gonna live this down. First he gets the fluffiest pitting a mod has ever gotten. Now posters are saying that they miss him. Dude’s gonna lose his jackboots fer sure.
Just as a general comment, we tend not to tell y’all when we’re on vacation, for a number of reasons. Primary among these is the notion that some persons take that the mice can play when the cat’s away. But other factors, like what the hell business is it of yours?, come into play as well. I’m neither confirming nor denying Giraffe’s situation, mind you, I’m just sayin’.
geez indeed. didn’t know Giraffe’s status was classified. there’s been announcements other times mods/admins were off for various reasons. why suddenly is it suspect/wrong to ask?
Jesus fucksicle twist! What the hell didfference does it make whether one mod out of a dozen or more is here? If you have a hatred for a certain thread that you think is misplaced, report it! If you want some flame ass fucked up trainwreck backfires of Pit threads (and who doesn’t? ), then fucking make one!

BTW, this thread is too lame for the Pit. I vote we move it.
The difference is that Giraffe seems to be the moderator that was giving a shit about the very thing that I am complaining about (in the right forum, by the way).
As far as reporting threads, my experience leads me to believe that the report function must secretly lead to some Internet black hole. For the most part, it seems that moderation by capriciousness is the rule of the day.
A giraffe in capris would be an interesting sight.
While I agree that there have been far too many MPSIMS rants allowed in the Pit over the past few months, I don’t think the Long Necked One is the Chosen One Super Mod to fix it all in one fell swoop. Like I said in post #2, these things go in cycles. Even before we came here, Dopers were lamenting the pitiable state of the Pit they saw.
What do you think runs the server? Used to be a hamster, but Cecil and the mods blew all the money for hamsters on hookers and blow, so we had to get mice.
In my experience, it differs from one forum to another. Arnold, Dex, Gaudere, and Tuba are all very good about checking and responding to reports of posts.
