that’s about it.
It’s taking forever to bring up a thread or post a reply. What is going on?

We’ve been Slashdotted.
/. linked to the “LotR by other authors” thread over in cafe society.
A couple other sites, including the popular “Slashdot” has referenced a thread here, the one on Cafe Society about Lord Of The Rings as if written by other people. I think that’s really hammered the site.
God save us all. Whoever submitted that link to Slashdot needs to be slapped around a bit.
I was wondering why that thread had over 147,000 views.
WTF, can we jettison that thread for the sake of the mother ship?
WTF is slash dot?
p.s. WTF stand for What the fuck!!!
p.p.s. It was a rhetorical quesiton. I’ll figure it out
Amen! This board is a little slow for my standards, since my mouth moves so fast.
SandWriter, try reading ATMB.
Slashdot is a wildly popular geek news site, that posts several links a day to interesting articles or websites. Websites that are featured often get tens of thousands of hits as a result, and sometimes buckle under the load. This rapid rise in traffic has been termed the “Slashdot Effect”.
it’s happenning because you masturbate. atleast god isn’t killing kittens this time.
the hamsters are vacationing in Venezeula.
Hey BrightEyes,
Turns out it wasn’t caused by me masturbating. The slow down was caused by this other site, www.slashdot.org, linking to a thread on the SDMB.
Thanks for the response though.

p.s. And Brighteyes, just so you understand, there is a theory that the message board is powered by hamsters, so if the hamsters are vacationing in Venezeula (maybe they have releatives over there?) then that would be the cause of the slow down.
Good advice. It’s the first forum I check each morning.
Okay okay! I posted in the wrong place, AGAIN. Why do you always have to pick on me! Just kidding, I know you are really trying to help me out. I appreciate it. Thank you.
I can’t believe someone with over 10000 posts commented on one of my threads! I feel like I’ve been touched by a god.
My only defense, er, excuse, is I was thinking that a complaint about the speed of the board was more of a pit topic than a technical question. But now I see the light.
LONG LIVE THE SDMB!
