Is it not nifty?

I think it’s time for a sluggy appreciation thread.

So much good stuff. One of my favorite strips is from the vampire story arc:

“Foolish mortal do you think humanity would give up its immortal soul forever just to look good?”
(pannel of silence)
“Sylvia…”
“Informercials next quarter.”

Yay, Sluggy!

The Death of the evil Dr. Crabtree has always been a favorite… the way all the elements came together, including the dream-foreshadowing… but especially the thoughts that go through her mind before she’s vaporized by the pulse:

“Unable to initialize magnetic shielding… SAM’S DA MAN, SAM’S DA MAN!”

Aylee’s surprises are always pretty cool. When K’Z’K has taken over Gwynn and she thinks she’s able to handle anything they can throw at her… and then she looks out the window at Aylee in ‘dragon-mode’.

“Hello, do I know you?” CHOMP

Kitten: The Evil!

Plus:
“Welcome to the Dimension of Pain.”
“Thanks, can I use your bathroom?”
“No.”

And also:
“No, YOU have no honour!”

I have been a faithful follower since Riff spammed Satan.

“Should I just live with the traces of Satan, Chuck the archangel, Alanis Morrisette, Gilbert Gottfried, and Carrot-top on my system or should I copy over 100 gigs of nudie pics to back up important documents so I can reinstall my operating system? There are some choices no man should have to make.” - Riff

Who can forget Bun-Bun’s vendetta against Santa?[1]
Twas the night before Christmas,
And all through the home
Was a lop setting trip wire
That could cut through bone.
A tri-mounted rifle
Was armed by this hare
In the hope that St. Nicholas
Soon would be there.
Despite the barrage of bullets
From a gun with auto-trackin’
Bun-Bun retreated
‘Cause Santa was packin’.
With a wink and a flip
Of the bird to the lop
He dropped off his gifts,
And up the chimney he shot!
And he went off to reward
The good children in bed.
But he didn’t notice the
Plastic explosives under his sled." *

Egads – my kind of thread.

Favorite moments include:

Kicking a kitten…A grown man punting a kitten who was looking the other way…It was the bravest thing I’ve ever seen.”

and:

Poik!

“Could you jump up and down for us, mister?”

The first time I tried Sluggy, I thought it was stupid and poorly drawn.

The second time I tried Sluggy, I thought it was weird.

The third time I tried Sluggy, I started from the beginning and read everything in order, and now I’m a bona-fide sluggite.

Abrams’ art still needs a bit of work, but the characters are fun enough to make the strip shine regardless.

And am I the only person who does not like the new direction Aylee is going? C’mon, psycho-space-alien-that-mercilessly-gobbles-humans is so '90s…

(And Riff gets major props for being a Mac user. )

Sluggy Mummy Christmas

jr8 has already quoted my favorite line, so I’ll content myself with noting that I’ve been working hard at drawing new sluggites into the fold. I wear my Kitten tshirt to my IFGS games, and last weekend 5 people told me that I’d gotten them hooked after the last game. The most common comment was along the lines of:

“It’s weird, it’s twisted, but I can’t stop reading it. It’s all your fault!” (Usually followed by a nasty damaging spell of some kind.)

Aylee won’t stay the way she is now that they’ve got her out of the office. If they can keep her out long enough, she’ll adapt to something other than being a CEO. Is anyone else enjoying the way Torg is playing with Isp and Osp as much as I am?
