Is it ok to feed a dog sunflower seeds?

My roommates pesky pooch found my garbage can in my office and ate all of the shells of a week’s worth of sunflower seed eating. She (the dog) puked.

She has done this previously on eating beef jerky… is it that dogs don’t like the salted snacks? = )

Anyhoo, she loves the seeds… and I give them to her sparingly… she likes them more than biscuits. Is there any harm in giving a dog sunflower seeds?

From what I have quickly looked up, sunflower seeds are perfectly fine (and indeed ingredients in various home dogfood recipies), but sunflower shells can definately cause problems.
