I’ve been thinking about posting a poll about President Obama. I understad that it is not permitted to post insults about other members of the board in any forum except the BBQ pit. However, it is supposeldy permitted to post insults about public figures. I’d like to test that - specifically - by asking if it is OK for me to post an insult about President Obama in the IMHO forum.
Mostly, what I really want to do in this poll is to insult him and call him a bunch of names because I’m really very angry - specifically about the BP oil spill and generally about my perception that he really hasn’t accomplished much of anything (good) since he took office (except maybe he has improved his golf game).
However, before I get carried away, I’d like to know whether it’s OK for me to call him a “dirty motherfucker” in the IMHO forum? If not, would “slimey motherfucker” or “oily motherfucker” be any better?
This thread will be a poll about his performance since he took office and will largely be about the BP oil spill cleanup.
I sent a PM to a couple of moderators but didn’t get a definitive reply and so I figured it might be OK to ask the question in this forum.
I think this might be a question for the About This Message Board section, but I’m not sure.
I also think you can call the president whatever you want, as long as you don’t call for his injury/death or use words from the prohibited list (I know “cunt” is on it, but I’m not sure about others, and my search-fu is failing).
Have you considered writing directly to the White House? I don’t think President Obama reads this board.
I’m fairly certain that I originally posted this thread to the “About this Board” forum. Can anyone tell me how to know whether a moderator moved it?
I was hoping to avoid getting into any trouble over it and when I saw that it had apparently been moved to this forum, I wanted to delete it. But there was no edit button available to me.
Heh. Heh. My intention was to post a poll in this message board to see how people felt about his performance since he took office.
I feel that he has been a terribly disappointing president. He sure talked the talk when he wanted our votes. But he has failed dismally to perfrom when it counted on issues like the BP oil spill.
I am thoroughtly disappoionted at his performance since he took office.
Joanie - You might be interested in this recent thread in which President Obama’s performance in office is discussed at length.
If you really want to get accurate responses to a poll on how people feel about his performance, you might want to avoid using a lot of derogatory language toward him that might skew the results.
If a mod moves your thread, they’ll post to the thread to say so. Also, there will be a link in the original forum, saying “Moved: [your thread title]” which will take you to it.
I think you are probably correct about that. So, I guess I will avoid any provocative language. My feelings are just extremely powerful owing to this BP Oil spill. It seems like they won’t ever be able to stop it.
It is my belief, Joanie, that this thread was never in ATMB and wasn’t moved by any moderator. That said, I think that’s really the best place for it, since we’re discussing board policy, etc.
So, even though it appears you’ve come to some sort of resolution, I’m going to go ahead to move your thread there.
I must have made a mistake and posted this to the IMHO forum originally even though I intended to post it to the “About this Board” forum.
I have come to about half of a resolution. If I post a poll about the President, I will post it in the IMHO forum. Also, if there are any threads about him in the Pit, I will probably post some insulting language towards him in that forum too.
Thanks to alll the mods who helped me out - Ellen Cherry, Gary “Wombat” ?, (sorry I fogot Gary’s last name).
.
I have never before posted a poll here and so, if anyone else would like to post a poll about the President, I’d be real happy to let someone else do it.
Basically, I was just going to ask people for some kind of number to guage your approval rating of President Obama from the time he first took office to the present time.
I’m not exactly sure how to do this. Maybe it requires two polls? One for your approval level at the time he first took office and a second poll for your current approval level?
Or, if that is too complicated, maybe just a single poll asking people for their current approval rating? Maybe a number between 0 and 100?
If anyone would like to do that, please post your intention here and then go ahead. I will wait until tomorrow before trying to do it myself.
Alternatively, I have never posted a poll before. So, if anyone has a good idea how best to post a poll that indicates peoples’ approval rating of the president that gives a picture of what they originally thought of him when he first took office and then, what they think of him now, I sure would appreciate any help or advice you could give as how to do something like that.
Or, perhaps someone would be willing to just go ahead and post such a poll?
Hmmm … when I try to open this thread, I get a problem - an error message - perhaps a warning. It’s complaining about “.php” files (which are files used to creat HTML web pages) and it won’t allow me to open the post from Tahssa.
I didn’t understand what happened and so I downloaded some program called “ResgistryBooster.exe” and then after running that executable, it allowed me to see the post from Tahssa again. I’m not sure what is going on.
Oh Boy! I found a thread in the Pit called, “Anyone feeling buyers remorse about Obama yet?”
It seems to have 400 messages in it! It was started on June 6 2010. But it still seems to be going strong. The latest post was made just about 30 minutes ago.
So, it would seem that I have found a perfect place for me to vent some steam that I have been building up about the President.
I apologize to anyone to whom this all seems very obvious and who are feeling very bored by my “newbie” kind of problems.
And I thank all those people who have tried to help me out.
I really do appreciate your efforts. Thanks ever so much to all of you.
