Because I really think my right canal is smaller than the left. I just bought a new pair of headphones. They are the kind that have no headband and are the small ones you fit into your ear. Now, whenever I put them on, the left one is always nice and snug. But the right one never goes in right, and always falls out easier. Also, I’ve been trying to put it in so much that it’s starting to hurt my ear. :dubious:
I’m not a doctor or anything, but I think I can figure this one out.
There’s no reason to believe that your ear canals are exactly the same size. There’s some variation in probably every body part that you have two of.
In addition to that, you have some first hand, convincing evidence that your ear canals are not the same size.
So, no reason to believe it, plus evidence to the contrary. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that it is possible for one of your ear canals to be smaller than the other.
I have the exact same thing happen to me, so while I can’t answer your question definitively (although logically it appears to be the case), I await the answer as well.
I have the same issue. **spingears ** says it a little snarkily, but earbuds are the problem, not your ears. Anything one-size-fits-all is going to be a problem for some people.
I got these great things, they’re like earbuds only they have a small loop thing which goes over the top of your ear. I don’t know what they’re called, but they’re great*. Nothing goes over your head.
The body is not necessarilly dimensionally identical for two of the same organs/members. This may not be at all noticeable, except on close examination or measurement. In your case the ear buds substitute for measuring devices. You might try to swap the fom covers or the part that enters the ear canal if removable.
Try a dry run of the swap for fit and if that solves the problem, rewire the leads in the plug to swap R / L channels
