He did make reference to Trumps involvement while they were spatting over Trump ending e vehicle rebates ? There was more to DOGE than saving taxpayers money!
What’s in it for Musk?
Do I think Musk scrubbed the files, or did anything else to alter them? I don’t think there would have been a reason to; that wasn’t part of their mandate, and they were busy ruining the country by firing people and dismantling useful programs.
Now, do I think Musk had nothing to do with them at all? No, I expect that he had enough access that he was able to get a copy of them for himself, who knows for what purpose. That guy was collecting ridiculous amounts of data, much of it illegal for him to have, but Trump let him do whatever he wanted for a while.
Well 1) political capital, In a time where is no longer in the inner circle this information appears to be more valuable then money! Trump and many others been using all there clout to keep these under darkness at any expense…Maybe even Jeffreys life! 2) opportunity! He was given the ability to invading government systems" during their efforts to identify federal waste. I don’t believe he cares about government waste for a second! From what I see and hear Musk has very happy tax returns in regards to his bottom line!
The fact that he isn’t in the inner circle any more is, surely, proof that he didn’t get much political capital from this.
Sure, he probably did have the opportunity. But that doesn’t at all answer the question of why he would.
As I recall Trump repeatedly threatened to terminate government support for Musk’s companies, including the substantial contracts held by SpaceX ! And that is what went public, behind the scenes had to be much more!
Another question is, why would anyone ask Musk to do this? It’s not like he has any particular expertise in it, nor did anyone he brought with him to my knowledge. They have people in the DOJ and other parts of the government who do have expertise, and those are reportedly the people who have been doing it. (Maybe not doing it well, after they lost so many experienced people who quit or were fired, but presumably still better than Musk would have.)
