“Sin, young man, is when you treat people as things.” - Granny Weatherwax
Things are morally neutral; the people who voted for Trump are not. They wanted to hurt everyone else as much as possible, even if they suffered and died as well.
So even going by that definition of sin, what* they* did was worse than sin.
I was told there would be refreshments.

Speaking of mind-readers, you know this how?
I swear you said the same exact thing last time you answered. You didn’t have any sense of deja vu, dude? You’re just like a wind up republican.
OK. If it’s sooooo retarded to say that donnie is influenced by russians; If it’s a subject that one cannot even say the name of without it being retarded: Then you can explain why everyone else outside of the spectrum that you are on cares and is concerned? (Do you ever question the spectrum that you are shouting from at all?)
And do it by talking about things in the last two months, if that’s possible.
Basically I’m asking you to defend your reactionary distaste for calling don the con out on his russian ties, and his non-transparency.
BTW the first thing you said about Hillary Clinton, that I saw, was that she was a corporatist and a globalist. How is donnie working out for you on that front, apologizer?
So if the** 62,980,160 **people who voted for Trump each shot someone to death - a death toll equivalent to **21,000 ** September 11th-attacks or **400 **Hiroshimas - “they’d have done less harm?”
Der Trihs, your extreme pessimism is ridiculous. Nelson Mandela and MLK Jr. faced far, far more difficult circumstances than we do, and they remained optimistic and effected very positive change. If they were as pessimistic as you, they never would have succeeded.
Trump sucks, and there’s a non-zero possibility that it will turn out that he will suck to an historic, world-changing level. But I think it’s a lot more likely that he’ll just suck a whole lot, damaging the world and hurting people to a significant extent, but not to the level that he’ll rise to be one of the great villains of human history. In any case, your type of pessimism makes it more likely that bad things will happen, and less likely that positive change will occur.
You’ve been here seven years, and you don’t know Der Trihs’ schtick yet?

I’m on a roll with reasonably responding to posters, regardless of post content.
So we would be better off is 62 million people had gone out and shot someone instead of voting for Trump? Wow!
So tell me, other than being deeply embarassing for this country to have a bobblehead president, what has he done so far that a more typical Republican wouldn’t have done that would justify 62 million gunshot wounds (and presumably a few million deaths)?
You are removing yourself from the arena of credible voices on yet another issue.
Maybe we could compromise, and shoot one person 62 million times.

Which person?
The term you are looking for is apologist not apologizer. Just FYI.
Next you should learn what the term “normalizing” means, because I think you are suing it wrong. For example, normalizing bad behaviour in boys by repating the mantra that “boys will be boys” is normalizing. Accepting Trump as POTUS is not normalizing. Refusing to jump on every Trump bashing band wagon that comes down the road is not normalizing. Defending Trump against ridiculous statements like we would be better off if every trump voter had gone out and shot someone, is not normalizing.
I am appalled to find myself in the role of apologist for Trump on several issues because the butthurt snowflakes have gone so far off the deep end. I find myself arguing that Trump is not a Manchurian candidate for Russia (it seems like you may be dialing back your position on the whole Russia/Turmp thing, if so then good for you), that Trump is not as bad as 62 million people getting shot in one day (I am hopeful that Der Trihs will realize how bad his statement was and revise it somehow).
Yeah, you’ve been really good about that lately. Are you taking some pills or something? Can your doctor prescribe some to me?
Don’t say what you are about to say. The Secret service will find you with your IP address.
Join the Navy, then spend 5 years on a submarine, and then for the rest of your life nothing non-life-threatening will ever rile you up again. Or something like that.
No, you don’t have to correct me. I meant apologizer. English is my first language.

In what way did I dial back concern about donnies russian problem?
You can’t be in touch with any news sources, and seriously asking how donnie is distinguished from any other republican potential potus.
Do you just wait for your Straight dope to update to know what’s happening in the world? Do you even read other threads which talk about donnies “distinguishing” qualities?
Yes when you downplay the unprecedented, bizarre, and depraved, you are going to be seen as “normalizing.”
My bold.
Let’s not bring litigation into this.
And yet every day the news suggests that the "“butthurt snowflakes” are closer to reality than those who think the Trump administration won’t be so bad. Seen the fun and games at the EPA recently?
While “Manchurian candidate” is perhaps hyperbolic, “way too friendly with Russia, to the point of being a genuine serious security risk” is not. Just ask the US security agencies. Or Israel. Or indeed Theresa May.
Forget it, Jake. It’s Trihstown.
I suppose, even retards have a first language.
Do you still think that Trump will be a Russian puppet tbecause he owes some russians money and the russian mafia will threaten his family with physical violence?
Other than being incredibly embarassing and saying stupid shit, what has he done that just about any other republican wouldn’t do?
SDMB is frequently a source of information for me. The citation requirements combined with the application of critical thought (even here in the pit) makes it a more reliable source of information than pretty much any for profit news outlet. Even taking into account the significant liberal bias of SDMB, its still more reliable than anything other than maybe CSPAN and NPR
