Yeah, I do. Right or wrong, it’s the woman who’s expected to see about these things, keep up with everybody, participate in whatever you can, even if you live on the planet Pluto.
Part of the fun of that responsibility is that you get to choose the “right” stuff/way about EVERYTHING.
It’s each person’s job to purchase the presents for his or her family, or to negotiate with his or her partner about it. Yes, it sometimes does turn out that one partner does most or all of the present shopping, because that partner is better at it, or enjoys shopping, or has more time, or whatever. But for the other partner to assume that it will be taken care of because he’s a man and it’s the woman’s job is at the same level as a grown man assuming that the Laundry Fairy will make sure he’s never out of clean socks, no matter where he drops the dirty ones  And for his family to assume it… well… welcome to the modern world, kids. They allow men in shopping malls now.
A strike! Good idea. Do it light heartedly, like the moments at a party when the women can ask the men to dance instead of the other way around.
I can hear the arguments already. “We don’t like shopping”.
“Then search the web for an appropriate gift card site and arrange for everyone to contribute by paypal or something. Work out a system, that is what you are good at, aren’t you?”
