Is it time for "Larry King Live" to become "Bob Costas Live"?

I am a big fan of Larry King’s. Going back to the 1992 election, I have always thought Larry King was a fun show to watch. Sure he asked softballs, but that is why he got the best guests.

But in about 2004, I noticed Larry had lost his game. He seems confused and unprepared.

To notice this is difficult because he always seemed a bit spacey.

But now, it is uncomfortable watching him.

Recently, Bob Costas was hired as a permanent guest host. I get the impression that he is CNN’s “Leno.” They are grooming him to take over when King retires.

While he may have ruffled the feathers of the CNN Masters by refusing to do a show on Natalie Holloway, (GOOD FOR HIM!), I still think he is the best choice.

And I think it should be now.

Costas would probably ask tougher questions than King, but I think he could do a good job of keeping the infotainment spirit of the show.

Plus, I’ll bet he’d bring more sports to the program.

But no matter who you replace him with, King needs to retire.

I’m with you. While Larry King just makes me cringe anymore, Bob Costas is articulate, ingelligent, and does his research. I enjoyed his late night talk show when he had it.

Oh yeah.

Larry King increasingly reminds one of a beloved but demented elder.

Yesterday I commented on his razor-sharp question “Are these tornadoes natural occurrences?” A minor slip, understandable when your mind is winking out- “Like, are we in Atlanta, or is this Maine?”

He’s often much worse, though. I think the worst thing I ever saw was when he asked a woman who survived a brutal sexual assault during which she was stabbed and slashed multiple times, “What were you thinking while he was making love to you?”

What are they going to do, wait for him to start smearing his own kack around the set?
