Larry King's last show airs tonight

Anyone watching?

As a side note, it seems he spent his second to last show kissing Barbra Streisand’s ass.

Larry seems like a really nice guy, and seems quite a bit smarter and funnier when he’s a guest on someone else’s show than he does on his own.

But he is the journalistic equivalent of a press release for whatever his guests want to say or spin. He is the go to guy for anyone who wants to put out their story with a live talking head and no serious scrutiny. I hardly ever watched his show and I won’t miss him at all.

And no, I didn’t watch the last show either. He is on my 2011 Celebrity Death Pool list – I’m betting he’s retiring because of a fatal disease.

Did he crumble into dust at the end?

There was a time that Larry was really, really good. Especially before CNN, Larry wasn’t afraid to give his opinions on his radio show. His early years on CNN were great. Larry was a good interviewer back then. Sharp and quick with the questions. But, the years caught up with him. Everyone slows down as they age.

No question that he should have retired years ago. I only watched when there was a guest or topic that interested me. I will miss not seeing him anymore.

Dang it–I nearly burst out laughing while my students are taking a test. :stuck_out_tongue:

I agree in his prime no one came close to his interviewing. But he retired about ten years years too late. He should’ve retried around 2000 and just come back to do a few specials for CNN every year. Maybe a monthly two hour show, that way he would’ve went out gracefully.

Oh well, it is what it is and I hope he enjoys his retirement. I am not looking forward to his replacement.

Yeah, didn’t he get someone to ghost write his memoirs for him? I recall having heard this somewhere and if true, that’s a horrible low for someone that still calls themselves a “journalist.”

That guy seems like an idiot.

I’m thinking they would do better by replacing Larry with a bobble head doll.

The ratings were abysmal. I was genuinely unaware he still had a show.

King’s been on auto pilot for years. I often wonder if he lost interest in what he’s a doing a long time ago.

Anyway, at the risk of dating myself, did anybody here listen to his late-night radio talk show which ran from 1977 to 1994? For much of its run, it was on four (originally five) hours a night, Monday through Friday with three hours usually set aside for the guest and one hour of open phones. On that show, King was a lot more engaged, interested, and opinionated than he was during most of his tenure on CNN.
