Re-signing Stockton makes it a moot point until next year, but is keeping an aging core of players past their prime but still good enough to possibly qualify 6-8 in the conference for a few more years a valid strategy?
Truth be told, I wish the Bulls had taken that strategy for at least a year or two after their last championship. IMHO not winning the championship with a veteran team is not complete failure, whereas winning 12 games a season is.
So, what’s the best strategy and under what circumstances with a very good but declining team?
