Most of the other late night shows are taped, but is it a joke that this is live? How can they find guests and an audience to show up around midnight or 1am?
I believe it is live. Also, the show is in California so it would be 9 p.m. there.
It probably depends on your market. In Dallas it’s tape-delayed one-half hour so the local affiliate can show Entertainment Tonight between Nightline and Jimmy Kimmel Live.
I’m on the west coast and I see Jimmy Kimmel at midnight, not 9 PM. It’s probably delayed for the east coast.
Wait, that doesn’t make sense… midnight here is 3 AM Eastern. Maybe it’s delayed for the west coast, or shown a day late on the east coast?
The show is taped in LA, I think. So if it’s taped at 9 pm there, it could run live at 1 am Eastern.
Yes, the show is broadcast live on the east coast at 12:05 am, which is 9:05 pm on the west coast where the show is produced. The broadcast is taped and played on the west coast at 12:05 am. Many individual markets delay the show, however.
It’s sort of a moot point as there have been major rumblings that Jimmy is going to be canceled soon.
Jimmy has been doing everything he can to get cancelled, from what I’ve seen.
But I think his show is great. It seems a lot more “down to earth” than other shows, and the weekly co-hosts are a great idea.
