I just got an update. My BiL is not going to survive. He is being kept alive so his organs can be harvested for donation.
The jumper landed on his side of the car. The impact broke my BiL’s vertebrae and he then went into cardiac arrest.
My sister walked away with 2 small scratches. She was driving when all this happened. The impact shattered the windshield and my sister was able to pull off the highway without hitting anything.
It’s hard to imagine a more random and fucked up event.
Thank you for letting us know. Absolutely devasting news. Words are failing me.

There are no words for a situation this fucked up and unjust. No meaningful comfort anyone can offer. I am bereft for you all and hope you and your family weather this ordeal as best you can. Many hugs to you.

I’m so sorry. That’s absolutely horrible. I can’t even imagine.
When we potty trained my daughter, she would wait until we put her in pullups for bed. Then a half hour later she’d call out that she needed to be changed. Then I caught her going to her room to get pullups herself. The second or third time, I suggested she try using the toilet.
It had never occurred to her! Problem solved. Anyway, I mention this to point out that waiting for a specific time does not, in itself, promise problems.
At least you are forewarned. If it does become an issue, the treatment is simple, just lengthy.

I would also suggest it might not be the best idea to drive drunk even if you’re not famous.
In fact, it’s an even worse idea if you aren’t rich and famous enough to be able to wiggle out with a slapped wrist, instead of going to jail like a prole.
