Is Luann going to get laid?

She’s come along since her little crush on Aaron Hill.

Already existing thread: So is Luann about to lose her virginity? - Cafe Society - Straight Dope Message Board

Note that the OP in the previous thread was from 2012. Not too sure I’d have the patience to follow a strip where this question has been debated for 3, 4 years now.

“Squirt gun”? Oh dear.

No surprise that Luann was irritated with Quill’s remark.

The serious answer to the question is provided by the previous days strip: Luann says “My hormones wanna leap. But my head and heart … I’m just not ready.”

Considering that she’s demonstrated she’s willing and able to not let her hormones override her sense of unreadiness, and that Quill is willing to respect her boundaries, I think it’s a safe bet that she’s not going to go all the way, at least not here and now.

There’s a trip to NYC coming up for them at Christmas, isn’t there? I can’t wait for the parents to jump in and try to de-rail the whole thing: ‘but…but it’s Christmas! You can’t take this trip at Christmas!’ (undertone: ‘we know what you two are going to do and it’s immoral!’)…I hope they do go, and I hope they do the deed. How many years of my life have I wished I could have spent Christmas away from my hideous family, with someone I loved.

When they rented that house to her brother one of the rules was no liquor. The guy is an adult and a fire fighter at that. I think it’s peculiar that a lot of comic strip parents are still stuck in the 50’s.

Perhaps because a lot of comic strip readers are still stuck in the '50s. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sure, she’s gonna get laid. Eventually Greg Evans (or whoever is writing the strip under his name) will marry her off, at which point we can assume she’s gotten laid.

But is she gonna get laid in the next few weeks of the comic strip? No.

Because most comic readers are well over 50…

…and they don’t have Friedrich Nietzsche, H. L. Mencken, or Richard Nixon as a role model or a surrogate conscience.

Kudos to Evans for endowing both of them with self-control.

Yes and I hope he animates it so we can aaaallllll watch

Sure. He went from “Garden hose” to “squirt gun”. I’d be disappointed, too.

I said irritated not disappointed, smart guy. Hence the comment about self-control.

Reading this comic, I’m wondering if Luann stopped things just as he was getting to second base. Talk about not trying to upset a certain subset of prudish readers.

So, today’s strip ends with Luann reaching up to shut off the lights again…

♪Dim all the lights, pour the wine, start the music, time to get ready for love.♫–Jack Jones

I only follow the strip on The Comics Curmudgeon, and only know it as a sporadic comic that engenders snark. However, based on the age of the previous thread asking this same question, it seems the writer is dedicated to this never happening.

At most, you may get an off panel implication that will be apparently contradicted later.

I think you meant joshreads.com
