I heard he ended the interview by yelling, “Get off my lawn!”
And yet the polls suggest he might actually win the election.
It’s stunning, but true. There’s just too many people out there who’d prefer to vote for the whitest candidate.
So far he hasn’t given me a reason to vote for him. I only recall his ads attacking Obama. I don’t want to hear why I shouldn’t vote for the *other *guy, I want to hear why I *should *vote for you.
We’ll see. Polls or no polls…Al Gore Addressed the closeness issue.
He votes George Bush’s line 95% of the time. That’s not enough?
You mean Obama and McCain have no significant differences in their Platforms, personal views or stated policies?:dubious: Everyone of us that have chosen to vote for Obama have done so only due the color of his skin?
Where did he say, or even suggest, any such thing?
All he said is that some people will simply vote against Obama because he’s black. That’s not a generalization, just a well-founded assumption.
I suspect, though, that most people who vote against Obama’s blackness would not have supported Obama’s positions in any case, and probably would have voted either McCain or Barr on the issues anyway. I could be wrong, but that’s what I’m guessing.
There are people who will vote against McCain because he’s white. You’ll have to show me that there are dudes who would like Obama’s postions but are voting against him simply because of his skin color.
Oy! is correct in that the few racist voters out there would not be supporting a liberal platform in the first place.
You would be surprised. There are some people that identify as Democrats yet won’t vote for Barack because he’s black.
Duplicate post. Please ignore.
I’ve seen some surveys that say as much, but I still find it so hard to believe! How can someone who self-identifies as a liberal feel that way?
Yeah, I’m scratching my head over that one. I’m quite certain that there were plenty of Hillary supporters who said they’d never vote for a black man. Perhaps the use of that exact phrase wasn’t spoken so publicly, but is everyone forgetting all the primary polling amongst Democrats who said that race was, indeed, a factor in choosing who they voted for? Not every one of those respondents were black people choosing Barack because he’s black. Do the math.
Do we have a cite? And “identify”, that weasel-word scares me as anyone can register as a member of any party. In fact in some elections, die-hard members of the other party sometimes registered as the other guys in order to be a “spoiler”.
So, it’s impossible for a white person to want to vote for a black person becuase it’s about time? :dubious: Just like a male might want a female candidate? That’s one of the reasons I voted for Hillary. So in her case, when I was polled, I did answer “yes” to “Is the sex of the candidate *a factor *in your vote” (not sure of excat wording). Does than make me a sexist? of course, it was only a minor factor, but it was still there. You don’t think that a good number of white dudes *who are voting for Obama anyway *might consider his race a small positive factor in their vote? I think it is- it *is *about time we had a woman or a minority in the oval office. Now, that’s not enough to make me ignore their platform, but it is a factor. (I give Kudos to McCain for picking a woman Veep. It still ain’t gonna make me vote fro him, though!)
Do you dudes have *any evidence at all *that a significant number of liberal dems, voters who would vote for a politico with Obama’s platfrom, are voting for McCain only because they are racist?
It may be time to pull that fork out. The latest polls show McCain has the big mo now. Still lots of time before the election, but things are looking up for the geezer.
That’s unreliable because it’s convention bounce. Just like Obama’s relatively large lead as of LAST Monday is unreliable because of convention bounce. Before the debates begin, all polls are crap. If you REALLY want to be precise, the only poll that actually matters happens on the 2nd Tuesday of November.
And please don’t claim I’m cherry-picking polls. I seriously don’t think you can go back through my posts in the last couple of years and find anywhere that I’ve touted any poll. I’ve more or less been ignoring polls so far.
Well, we don’t really know when “convention bounce” ends, but you could be right. Still, do you think McCain is “forked”?
In this case, I am the cite.
No specifics needed, but the woman (I was actually calling for her mother, but she said her mother felt the same way) said that she was a lifelong Democrat that has never voted Republican. She’s not voting for Senator Obama. She also made it crystal clear that she’s not voting for Senator McCain. She said she’ll leave that part blank.
There are many different ways that race manifests itself in some of the answers that are given. In some cases, it becomes something that you end up with a “feeling” about, but I disqualify those. With others, it’s right there below the surface. Racism exists.
I still think Obama has the edge but McCain is not now, nor ever will be “forked” (until after the Election, that is). This election is too damn close. So was the Nomination.
