I phrase my question that way because it’s now 5 years old, so I’m allowing that as a possibility. In the last week or two, every now and then the screen takes on a slightly yellowish tinge, just for a few seconds, and then switches back to normal. I have no idea what’s causing this, and I run a virus checker daily. Your thoughts? Thanks in advance. Oh and FWIW there’s no magnets near the screen.
I have no idea if a computer monitor and television are in any way similar, but we had a television that did this before it died. It lasted about a year and a half of going back and forth from yellow to normal, and eventually to constant yellow just before it died.
The most common cause is a bad connection between the monitor and the computer. A break in a wire of the VGA cable can be causing this. You can try a new cable if it’s not directly wired into the monitor. Moving the cable around may show you if this is the problem. In case you can’t replace the cable. you may be able to duct tape the area of the break into a working position, and get some more use out of it.
Check that one of the pins on your VGA cable are not loose and pushed part way into the end socket.
