I used to be an occasional lurker on the Jeopardy message board. Used to be you could get there by visiting http://www.jeopardy.com/ then clicking on Communities>Message Board. I don’t remember the last time I actually visited, but I’ve tried to access it a few times in the last month. All I get is the following:
I’ve looked without success on the Jeopardy and Sony websites for an explanation. A month is a long time to be down for maintenance. Is it gone for good?
A lot of hacker groups were taking revenge on Sony for suing the people who jailbroke the latest Playstation.
Sony Pictures, which runs that web site, was apparently storing users’ passwords and other information IN THE CLEAR (unencrypted) and they grabbed a huge hunk of it.
This is very important: If you use the same password for any other web site that you used for the Sony web site, go change your password on the other sites. Your password may have been published to the world.
Sony Pictures has made no announcement about restoring the boards.
Just wanted to let everyone know that a group of Jeopardy! fans has created a new message board to replace the disabled Jeopardy! board at the Sony Pictures website.
This may just be temporary, or it may be permanent depending on what happens with the Sony site. Most of the regular posters from the Sony board have now found their way over to the new JBoard. Come and join us!
