Is Soul Men going to be the first movie released with two deceased stars?

Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes were the first two actors listed in the credits of the upcoming movie Soul Men. Assuming it gets released (because it’s going to face a real uphill battle as a light-hearted comedy at this point) would it be the first movie to have two of its major stars die independently before its release?

And should Samuel Jackson be worried?

I think Death should be worried about Samuel Jackson.

Is Isaac Hayes really starring in this thing? I haven’t seen any trailers, but he’s playing himself, which you usually see in a cameo (plus I don’t know how well he’d recovered from his previous stroke), and the few stories I’ve read strongly indicate that the stars are Mac and Jackson.

I just noticed this was in the Game Room, so I’ve moved it to Cafe Society.

If I were Death, I would have struck down Jackson for “Snakes on a Plane”

Nope.

Drakkar, are you referring to Vic Morrow, My-Ca Dinh Le, and Renee Shin-Yi Chen? Because I specifically said “died independently” for that reason. I’m sure there have been other movies were several cast members were killed in a single accident. (And I would question whether My-Ca Dinh Le and Renee Shin-Yi Chen would be considered major cast members in that movie.)

Hayes is listed second on the cast list in IMDB (behind Mac but ahead of Jackson) so I assume he had a prominent role in the film.

Cast lists on IMDB vary from film to film; entries are created or updated by individuals using a form on the IMDB site, and the order can be completely arbitrary.

Some finished films have their cast lists in the same order as the film’s credits, which also doesn’t necessarily indicate the importance of each role (in order of appearance, for example).

ETA: Having heard Isaac Hayes interviewed a few times over the last couple years, following a rumored stroke, I sincerely doubt he could pull off much of a speaking part.

Shit, since celebrities seem to die in groups of three, I think that Morgan Freeman must have someone up there who likes him…

True, though the Entertainment Weekly’s article on the movie listed Isaac Hayes as a cameo. He’s in it, but not too major.
