Just wondering why I didn’t get my South Park fix tonight.
Nah, they’re done for the season. They hit their 14 episodes for the season. The new season will start at some point next season.
Right. It appears they’re done for the season.
I usually get the South Park shakes around this time of the year anyways. New episodes…then they replay this season’s episodes…

For my own sanity, let me say that the new season will start sometime next YEAR. Obviously the season will start next season.
There was a lot of conflict. Trey and Matt had to be very tough with Trey and Matt.
I’ve wondered what Tina Fey has had to do.
Great (I assume unintentional) pun in the thread title. The writers are upset about getting guiled for DVD & new media residuals. They hope not to get guiled again.
To be specific, the next season starts on March 12, 2008.
The main thing the writers are striking for is a percentage of the residual profits the producers and studio make from selling their work on home video and digital downloads. Since Parker and Stone’s new contract gives them that in a 50-50 split with Comedy Central, it seems they would have no reason to strike. Also, Matt and Trey are South Park’s only writers. I’m not an expert on Hollywood or labor relations, but Parker and Stone would seem to be relatively unaffected by the strike. They own 50% of South Park, have no outside writers, and have a sweetheart residual-sharing deal.
They are however members of the writers guild, and out of solidarity they could cease production, and they could very well have been working on next season now anyways. Certainly they’d pay a big price financially, and they get more than what the average union writer is asking, but Comedy Central employs a lot of writers and Trey and Matt might choose to “strike” for that cause.
That’s how unions work. Just because a member is doing well and not feeling the pinch, they are expected to toe the party line. So South Park might indeed be effected, though it’ll be some months before we have to worry about that.
It’s the Four Seasons!

Well, yes, true Parker and Stone are WGA members. However, according to cites I’ve found, South Park is not under WGA jurisdiction, thus it is unaffected by the writers strike.
South Park – Not WGA, production continues
South Park: Writers not members of the WGA; production continues
The Hollywood Reporter also confirms South Park is a non-WGA show.
