The point I was bumbling around was there was some flapdoodle and discussion, quite a while back, about what was kosher and okay to crosspost, more from a copyright aspect or something.
As you can see, my brain has turned to farina, so it’s probably a total non-issue anyway.
Just as a clarification, I think Darva is very attractive. (Don’t like her makeup, but that’s a quibble.) My sole criticism is that her posing for Playboy runs directly counter to what she’d stated earlier about herself. I don’t care if people pose naked; nothing shameful about it. But if she’s gonna do this, she needs to get honest about it.

The pictures aren’t bad, but you can do miracles with a good stylist. However, my respect for her dropped to a new low when she announced that she wants to take over from Kathie Lee. That combined with the pictures really makes her look like a hypocrite. Go away Darva. Now. Please.

She’s way too androgynous, and the nipples are kinda yucky. I just think she isn’t the image of beauty in my mind. It’s so not what i think is pretty, and i am more towards a rounder figure, more of a botticelli image of women. My image of female beauty would be best depicted in cabanel’s “birth of venus.”

I saw the picture and I liked them. They took the pictures in Utah and I think they’re not in poor taste. I think Darva’s an attractive woman and she’s getting as much as she can out of the whole millionaire mess.
I don’t agree with what she’s doing. I definitely think people wouldn’t care so much if she were truthful about the whole deal instead of trying to portray herself as some sort of victim.
Still…I wouldn’t mind having that body. She’s in great shape (obvious from the pictures and from the show). She does have on a lot of makeup but so what, big deal.
There are nipples, there are hard nipples, and then there are Darva’s nipples. Again, I have not seen many but I have seen none that look like that. If this makes me immature, fine. Hell, maybe I am jealous because my nipples can’t poke people in the eye from across the room. You make the call, buddy. Whatever.
Anyway, maybe I’m a prude but she is being hypocritical, and I only saw her in PIC for about 5 minutes, and sharp is not the way I’d describe her. Yes, she has a nice body, but she is rather skinny. That’s not jealousy, just honesty. I much prefer my figure to hers, is all.
Well, it’s her life, she can do what she wants. Maybe she’ll release an album next and show up on that VH1 show about one-hit wonders and has-beens.
For someone who says she’s tired of being in the public eye . . . um, nice try. You do not, if you’re trying to do that, go to an Oscar party, show up on Politically Incorrect, and pose nude for anyone.

Think about this. Maybe she is unhappy with the attention, and I honestly don’t think she expected to get as much as she did. The point of the matter is that its not a simple black and white issue. She might very well hate the media attention and not want to be judged and flamed by people who don’t know her at all. She didn’t handle herself well at first either, though lately she’s been coming clean and being more honest and believable. The point I’m getting to is this, no matter how badly she hates the attention she has to weigh the pros and cons of the situation. The cons are, as long as she is in the spotlight she’ll be hated by many and respected by few. She’ll have very little privacy and will be hounded by paparazzi. The pros are she’ll get to do tons of things that most of America (especially women) dream about doing, and she’s getting a fuckload of money. For most of us, when opportunity comes knocking we grab it by the balls and manage the concequences. The fact she’s doing all kinds of things to stay in the spotlight, and objectifying herself in many peoples eyes doesn’t mean she is lying about wanting to not be in the spotlight. She just decided that the benefits make it worth it, and I think a half a million dollars and the potential hopes of a new career in Hollywood would make alot of the dissenters do the same.
Michael Jordan constantly says he hates the media attention and wishes he were just like everyone else. However no one honestly wonders why he kept playing basketball and doing commercials. The life isn’t perfect, and the attention is a necessary evil but most of us would do anything to be in his shoes. Same goes for Darva, yeah she hates the attention and she’s not exactly proud of how she got it, but she’d be foolish to not take advantage of the opportunities. Think about it before you get all catty.
Iampunha, my man, no one has the heart to tell you this, but we all let Bratman get the nude shots of the newbies because he makes copies and circulates them to all us SDMB veterans.
But you have to earn your way in, put up with the hazing (which may or may not include felching), have some SDMB vet sponsor you, and learn the secret handshake. You don’t simply get in by accumulating “X” number of posts.
Don’t let anyone find out I told you, as divulging this could very well lead to my expulsion from the society.

FWIW, I’m not terribly pleased with mine, either. If I could keep my boobs and take her body, I’d be one woman who’s exceptionally (probably excessively) pleased with her body.

Clearly she hasn’t the IQ to split atoms or map the DNA chain molecules, but that would be a detriment rather than an asset in the field she’s chosen to pusue - and that, folks, would be ShowBiz. We don’t ask alot of our showbiz folk. Good looks, an ability to speak and act well. From what interviews I’ve seen of her, she’s got all those skills down pat. All she needs now is more opportunities and she is not sitting around at home waiting for them to knock on her door. She is doing the best she can with the assets she has - nipples and all - to stay in the public and network eye.
What jumps out at me immediately about this rather silly thread is that the very same people who insist that every person is a unique individual who should be respected for his/her uniqueness, are the same people who condemn DC for being too skinny and having. Immature and jealous, indeed!
Get a grip folks. DC is not running for congress and she does not want to be your next president. At most she wants to co-host an unimportant day time show with a guy named Philbin. Will that really rock the foundations of Western civilization if she succeeds? I’m personally all for it if it gets Kathy Lee Gifford off the network and onto some cable evangelist channel which I have already blocked out on my cable box.

I have seen nipples like hers and let’s just say I enjoy them mightily. They are on the large side but not unreasonably so.
From my point of view there are only two important attributes in a woman’s nipples:

I read an interview where she said that she has become a religious person and she felt that God wouldn’t be upset with her posing for Playboy because she kept her legs together when she posed. She felt that God would want her to display her body as long as she didn’t show what was “down there”.
