I’m thinking she has to be. The local neighborhood bar I go to isn’t a gay bar. Except on Wednesday nights and Friday nights they have a gay (female) bartender. On the nights that she bartends, the clientele goes from being pretty much all straight to 80% lesbian 20% straight. (She’s got a lot of loyal customers! :)) And out of all the ladies in that place, I can’t say I’ve ever seen a “Lipstick” lesbian. The closest I’ve seen is some women wear make up, but it’s mostly just flesh toned stuff and they’ve got like a bob spikey type haircut. Not a bad look actually.
So, is the Lipstick lesbian real? Or is this just a fabrication of the porn industry?
** A side note that gives one a glimmer of hope for humanity. This bar I speak of is pretty much a "good ol’ boy, Redneck type bar. So far, not a single customer has complained that their bar is being taken over on Wednesdays and Fridays by those “heathenous” gay people.
I think he’s talking about the Penthouse Pet pictorial type of model. Always with longish hair, lots of glam, tall and thin, you know…
I’ve known some very feminine looking (Penthouse Pet model type) girls who were what they called trisexual. If it’s sexual, they’ll try it. As for knowing any purely lesbian, long haired, soft looking, pretty to men women, how would I know if they didn’t tell me?
Barely ANYONE, gay, straight, or otherwise, looks like that. I think the OP means femme gay women who are attracted to other femme gay women. In which case, yes, they exist. Your average small town gay bar won’t have a large enough clientele to give you any real idea of “what gay people are like.”
I think the last two pics really qualify but the first two I am on the fence. They MAY be lipstickers but I don’t think Hollywood party pics on the runway tell the normal story.
Are you focused more on the traditional feminine interests/style/look or on the (male) ideal feminine body? For example, one of my best friends fits the lipstick lesbian definition to a T except that like most adults, she’s a bit overweight. She loves hair and fashion and makeup and having sex with women, but as is the case of most everyone, she’s not anybody’s ideal physical form. Just a very pretty woman who happens to be gay.
Purely anecdotal I know, but the only known-Lesbian that I’ve gotten to know reasonably well has a wardrobe that consists entirely of black pants and black shirts, and she always cuts her hair very short like a guy. You couldn’t pay her to wear a dress.
Yes. I had one as a co-worker for something like 5 years. Very feminine (but not in an exaggerated way), very ladylike, very lesbian (I met her partner, who was more on the butch side)
Anecdotal, of course, but I can think of at least six who I have known well enough to know their sexual focus definitively (i.e. via direct conversational confirmation) and, in all but one case, also have at least met their partner.* As a fraction of the lesbian population (again, that I am familiar with), I would say somewhat less than 10% - not particularly uncommon.
Only one couple where one was a no-question “lipstick” with a partner who was an “occasional if she felt like it”.
Has it really never occurred to you that you’ve seen plenty, you just assumed they were straight? Because they didn’t have spikey bobs or wear black all the time or completely eschew dresses?
No, Because all the straight people there that go to this bar the night that this particular bartender bartends, are the die hard regulars. And I’m familiar with all of them.
