It was on the local Fox affiliate yesterday afternoon, and I have to say that this movie may be the best worst movie I’ve ever seen. Basically, it’s The Mystery Men, but without fighting, effects, or obvious humor. The cast features such notables as Rob Lowe, Jamie Kennedy and Thomas Haden Church.
Has anyone seen this movie? It was a trainwreck I just couldn’t look away from. I immediately went to Best Buy to see if they had it, but they didn’t (unsurprisingly).
I’ve been wanting to see this movie for years, but Ballbuster and Hollywood Video never have any copies to rent. I loved Mystery Men (and contend it has one of the best casts ever), and I usually enjoy “cult” movies like Army Of Darkness, Buckaroo Banzai, Six-String Samurai, Orgazmo, and Bubba Ho-Tep. I’m also a huge comic book fan, so I’m sure I’ll enjoy The Specials if I can ever find it!
I saw parts of it on cable I think, and I’ve been wanting to watch the whole thing. Haven’t checked local Blockbusters or anything, been just keeping an eye for it on TV.
I saw “The Specials” when I borrowed it for a week for free from my local library. (Yes, I am such a shill for the library system.) Unfortunately, I only got to run thru it once very very quickly, as my 11 year either was busy picking up on the inappropriate parts or getting bored by the fake documentary style.
Munch, you made a lot of typos after the part I quoted. You did mean to say “but it’s funny” didn’t you? I like this movie so much more than Mystery Men.
