So the Biden Admin is buying another 200 million doses of the COVID vaccine, which means supposedly we will have 600 million doses by summer of 2021.
Is the virus supported for children or pregnant women? If it is supported for people under 18 are there certain age brackets (ie can kids over 14 get the vaccine as a guess)?
So if the US has 600 million vaccines, will we mostly be back to normal by fall? I think it takes a month and a half to get immunity after your first dose.
It’ll be nice to go back to normal, but having to go back to work in person will suck hard. I save about 2 hours a day by working from home (plus I can use my lunch hour sleeping in my own bed). Lots of people are going to have trouble adjusting to going back to work in person, especially considering that a lot of jobs can be done fine at home.
But on another topic, there are 8 billion people on earth, so we need 16 billion of these vaccines. Any idea how long it’ll take the rest of the world to get the vaccine? I know AstraZeneca has a single dose vaccine coming out. I’m sure there are other vaccine candidates coming out too, which is good.
But enough to vaccinate 8 billion people, I’ve heard some reports it may not be until 2024 that the entire world is vaccinated. Any idea if thats true? I mean I would assume a lot of factories on earth have the capacity to make vaccines located all over the west, Japan, China, India, etc. all of whom have advanced manufacturing and biotechnology infrastructure. But shipping and storing vaccines at -70 isn’t easy.
