Is There a 90" tall basketball player?

The Weather Channel was trying to put the snow accumulation of Oswego CO, NY into perspective. They claim there is an Asian basketball player who is 90" tall? That’s 7.5-ft tall! Sounds impossible… - Jinx

Yao Ming, 7’6".

Yo.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Almost as improbable as a 7’7" Sudanese hockey player!

Not to mention Sun Ming Ming, who stands 7’ 8¾" tall. That’s 236 cm.

Yao Ming. (His name is pronounced like the present participle of the fictitious verb *to yowm.)

I know the area well, having grown up just north of the Snow Belt, graduated from Oswego State and worked for an agency that assisted the small towns in the eastern part of Oswego County. Parish, now officially the national recordholder for the highest snowfall in a seven-day period, has two claims to fame outside its own immediate environs: Parish Oil Co., one of the few surviving independent gasoline and fuel-oil/kerosene distributors not wholly owned and operated by Big Oil (it’s affiliated with Sunoco but locally owned), and Matt Lutz’s The Grist Mill diner, in my biased opinion one of the half dozen finest diners catering to the motoring public on the East Coast. And it’s only seven miles from Mexico!(Mexico, New York, that is: a village up State Route 69 that shares Parish’s snowy fate, where the beans are not in a hot chili sauce but Grandma Brown’s Baked Beans, headquartered there.)

It’s a huge suprise to me he wasn’t selected in the 2005 NBA draft. In the video you’ll notice he’s very slow and has an awkward run; it looks painful for him.

Even 7’7" hockey players can’t skate without…well, skates
