I just looked up the IMDB bio for the director of one of my favorite movies, THE LIVES OF OTHERS, and learned that he, Florian Von Hammersmark (sp?) stands 6 feet and 8 1/2 inches tall.
Aside from athletes, which other people that you know of because they’re otherwise famous are surprisingly tall? I know Roald Dahl was very tall, maybe 6’6", and John Kenneth Galbraith was 6’7 or maybe 6’8", but I’m curious about other tall folks. Oh, there’s Michael Crichton who was also very tall. Others?
Not famous, but when I was in the Navy, I had a classmate who was 6’10" - he thought it was hilarious to rest his elbow on top of my head and say “Where’s FCM?”
I believe the guitarist, Buckethead, is 6’6". AIUI, he has specially-made guitars that are larger than usual, so they don’t look like toys when he plays live.
My first boss when I was a lifeguard was 7’. He played professional basketball in Europe for a bit but when I worked for him those days were long past.
With the exception of Markie Post, the cast of Night Court was full of tall people.
Richard Moll-6 foot 8 inches.
Harry Anderson- 6foot 4 inches.
John Larroquette- 6 foot 4 inches.
Charles Robinson- 6 foot 2 inches.
Marsha Warfield- 5 foot 11 inches.
Markie Post -5 Foot 6 inches.
There’s a photo of him where he towers over everybody. I wonder if he has any athletic skills at all. As much as I despise his father, it’d be cool if he carved a niche in the NBA.
(Or moved to Europe and became some vagabond. He’s going to - at some point in his life - be asked about his view on the White House years of his father. The mind boggles when you consider whether he’ll be another Trumpian prick, or an outsider)
Also Karen Gillan, of Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy fame - she’s 5’11.
Staying in the category of British performers, comedian Greg Davies is famously tall - 6’8. On Taskmaster, he towers over his co-host, whom he calls “Little Alex Horne”; who is himself 6’2.
