Is There a Good Way to Donate to Ukraine?

The Canadian government is matching donations from citizens, to the Red Cross, I think, up to several million dollars.

I’ve donated Red Cross - both online and at a local store. The newspaper today had a plea from many Nobel winners, and mentioned a site called UnitewithUkraine (.com) but I cannot say I know anything about it. The matching donations by the Canadian government and foundations like Weston was a big factor. I donate to UNHCR and Doctors Without Borders anyway.

This is United 24. The introduction on the site says:

UNITED24 was launched by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy as the main venue for collecting charitable donations in support of Ukraine. Funds will be transferred to the official accounts of the National Bank of Ukraine and allocated by assigned ministries to cover the most pressing needs.

I have no reason to doubt that info. You can designate your money to go toward Medical Care, Rebuilding, or Defense. Paypal is available for the Medical and for Rebuilding. Credit card, bank transfer, and Crypto are offered for all three.

It does seem that normal Paypal fees apply to these donations. However, on the Paypal site there is a separate list of Ukraine-focused charities that you can donate to without Paypal taking a cut.

Funds are transferred to the National Bank of Ukraine and allocated by assigned ministries to cover the most pressing needs.

You can designate your money to:
Medical Care, Rebuilding, or Defense.

  • Payment is by credit card, bank transfer, and Crypto.
  • PayPal is available without fee for Medical and for Rebuilding.
  • If you’re donating from an iOS device, Apple Pay is available for Defense contributions (select the credit card payment option).

Their credit card statement says: Your data is safe. All payments processed by LCC FC “ONE SPACE”.

There are, of course, many other worthwhile charities listed in this thread.
