It’s the Holidays, and All I Can Think About Are the Ukrainians

Among my friends and in my family, we don’t exchange material gifts much. But we do often make charitable donations in each others’ names.

This year, my plan is to give to charities that benefit Ukrainians. I thought some of you might want to do this, too.

Here’s a link to what are purported to be the 13 best charities for supporting Ukraine in 2022.

This is not a call to action. If you find this a useful suggestion, I’m glad. If not, feel free – as ever! – to ignore my post and do your own thing.

The happiest of holidays to you all!

A couple of months ago my cell phone provider was taking donations for Ukraine, intended to support humanitarian relief efforts. You could contribute just by sending a text, so I did.

Recent news talks about major power outages, which is likely to cause major hardships this winter. I often think about the pets, too, as odd as that may sound, simply because dogs and cats are going to be the lowest priority in a crisis, and will suffer the most. This is a tragedy from every imaginable perspective.

It is.

I always forget about what’s possible with smart phones because I don’t have one. I would, happily, except I don’t have cell service at my home. Very cool that they offered such an easy way to contribute.

This is a good idea.
