I sware, I need to get out of my house, I like the outdoors, I normally am outside a lot, but lately something has happened…
That something is Rollercoster Tycoon. If you havent played this game, DON’T! If you do, you may not emerge from your computers location for days on end. I have almost been late to work more times than I can count sense getting this game. I’ve only made is on time due to the grace of my time machine, er car.
There is no trick to the game, all you do is build an theme park, but oh lord is it fun. Never have I sat so long infront of my computer (save the time I spend on the dope)building costers for little eletronic people, enjoying the feeling as they get off of the ride, jump into the air, vomit, and get right back on the ride!
Then I get the satafaction of charging $30.00 a head to get in, $2.00 to ride the costers, and a buck fifty for a balloon to see it float away later.
Each “level” is only setup for you to play, the only goal is to do well. I find my self playing to get to the next level so I can build cooler rides to beat the level to get to the next to build cooler rides…oh it never stops!!
In closing (lord how did this thread get this long) if you have Rollercoster Tycoon, get rid of it! If you don’t have it, stay away! stay away!
It probably won’t run on a 486 with Win95, will it? Anything that says it requires a Pentium (except for the really old slow Pentiums like a 75 mhz or whatever it was), won’t run on my computer, the graphics just sit there, and eventually it locks up.
I’ve got SimSafari and SimFarm and I don’t really enjoy either one of them. You have to spend so much time setting it up, and then it doesn’t really DO anything. But then I prefer shoot-em-ups anyway.
Dag, Kinoons, weren’t we talking about this game one night @ work? I told you not to get, I warned you that you would become even more pasty pale and withdrawn, but did you listen to me? No.
Serves you right ;op
And oh yeah, there is a more addictive activity. Swiddles was kind enough to point it out in this thread thus:
But I do believe that twas I who coined the phrase
many moons ago.
Surely, caramel-covered crack is more addictive than Roller Coaster Tycoon, and is at least in the same league as heroin without weight loss.
I contend that caramel-covered crack, though covered in caramel, would cause less weight gain than heroin without weightloss, as one would tend to be sedentary and dance like a jerk, like Travolta in Pulp Fiction.
I therefore think that caramel-covered crack would be more appealing heroin without weight loss, and therefore more addictive, and a better seller to boot. In any case, they are sure to both be extremely addictive, so it is plain that the addictive faculties of this board are beyond compare, even by use of chemical analogies.
So, I believe that it can be conclusively proven that this site is indeed more addictive than Roller Coaster Tycoon, though in a very different way.
Yes, The Straight Dope is much more addictive than Rollercoster Tycoon. I spend hours at a time at work on the dope, just to go home and play Rollercoster Tycoon for hours on end. It wont run on a 486 – sorry bout that.
Rollercoster tycoon is actually cutting into my Everquest time. I never thought I would find a game that would do that. I actually find myself getting home and asking myself which game do I want to play, and I find myself moving the mouse arrow to rollercoster tycoon.
I highly would recomment the game to anyone who can play it on there system. Its a wonderful game!
