Is there a way to track a stolen Ipod 4G?

My daughters IPOD was stolen today, does anyone know of a way it can be tracked down? I’ve looked online, and I get conflicting information.

AFAIK, you need a Mobile Me account, and have Find my iPod enabled. Here’s the Apple page on it. I don’t have an iPod, but instead an iPhone, and the procedure looks the same.
