I have a PS2 game I’ve been jonesing to play. Unfortunately, it won’t play on my PS4.
Is there a way I could play it on my PC? (I have a hard copy of the game)

There are some instructions that require a PS2 (e.g. getting a BIOS file) but you can often find the resulting files from someone who has done the work for you.
It will also require you to copy the disc to your hard drive as an ISO file, but the instructions tell you how to do that, too. I’m presuming that, based on your question, have a DVD drive of some sort available.
The easiest way might be to find it on the Playstation Now service and just download a digital version you can play on your PS4. Apparently the issue is that PS4s won’t read the discs from the older consoles, so if you can find it on Playstation Now, it’ll play just fine on your PS4.
I know it’s apples and oranges, but at least on the Xbox store, the older Xbox 360 games are usually very inexpensive for the same sort of thing when you’re using a Xbox One- like between $5 and $15.
This is the way, I got PCSX2 working and was able to rip Burnout Revenge and Katamari Damacy to .ISO files, they both play well on my PC.
You might be forced to go on the torrents to save time getting hold of the discs of games (I am not sure how trusted I would be with this, but I assume emulators firewall the images). I believe there are emulators for all the Playstations up to PS4.
I mean to go and try them out, I’ve been wanting to play Red Dead Redemption the original one, which I own, but I’m a PC gamer through and through (didn’t buy the last two Xbox and PS consoles at all).
