Long, long ago, one of my junior high classes passed out a list of rationalizations. Sour Grapes was on it and so was Sweet Lemon. Sweet lemon was talking up what you had as superior even though it plainly wasn’t.
Try out for the school play and get given a dinky part? That part is now the only part worth playing. I don’t care if the other parts have more lines, they’re not meaty enough to bother with.
