Is there an easy way to drain the soap out of a dishwasher without completing the cycle? Need answer fast

My son has learned what happens when you put liquid Dawn in the dishwasher. I have turned off the cycle. It sounds like the water is draining. What now? Thanks.

Hopefully it mostly drained. If not, there may be a way to force the drain cycle based on the model of your dish washer. After that… Towels on the floor, wet vac to suction stuff out?

Most dishwashers have a pump that engages automatically and pumps water into the sink drain when the water level gets above a certain level, even if the dishwasher is turned off. So it should be mostly drained.

I recommend running it at the lowest cycle without adding any more soap, and watch carefully in case it starts to leak bubbles again.

I’m not a professional but I’ve got some home improvement experience.

My ex-wife killed a dishwasher by doing exactly that, the foam rose up to the circuit board and short circuited some things.

It was a Smeg, which are kind of pricy so I was quite irritated.

She did what I suggested? If so, then I take it back.

I know it’s a little past the “fast” mark, but our Kenmore dishwasher has a feature whereby if you hold the power button in for 5 seconds, it initiates a ‘drain’ cycle and then turns off the washer.

I’d suggest looking for a “rinse” cycle, cancelling the current cycle and running that. Likely that it may need a few of those before the suds die down.

Same - Ours works by holding down the “Cancel” button for 3 seconds.

Anyone else worried that @Tarataratara might have drowned in the soapy overflow, since there hasn’t been an update?

Thanks for the advice! I let the dishwasher drain well, ran a rinse cycle, ran a regular cycle with no soap, and we, including the dishwasher, have lived to tell the tale.
