Is there an option to ignore a thread?

It seems that I remember seeing somewhere (in the CP?) an option to ignore a thread. That would be a useful thing to have, as many threads (especially in MPSIMS) are just getting too silly to even bother with.

Was I mistaken?

It’s a bio-enacted option.

When I want to ignore a thread, I just stick a Post-it[sup]TM[/sup] on my screen over the link to the thread. You may have to trim the Post-it[sup]TM[/sup] to fit.

I heard whiteout is good for that, too.

One thing I’ve wondered about the ignore function: When a poster puts another poster on ignore, how does a thread that’s started by the ignoree look to the ignorer?

Is it just a blank OP?

It appears the same way a non-OP appears, with the poster’s name and a link to view the single post.

You can try it yourself. Click on “User CP”; then click on “Edit Ignore List”. Add a poster (Not me, of course) to your Ignore List. Then look at a thread started by that poster. You can return to the Ignore List and remove the poster, or not.

But what happens if you ignore yourself? Is that anything like crossing the streams?

You can’t ignore yourself . . . nor can you ignore an Administrator or a Moderator.
